Thank you for sharing this video I grew up in Coatzacoalcos & I have great memories of my family & I walking the Mexican market Mercado Coatza; I remember going to Church on Sundays to the old building Cathedral San Jose then walking the square plaza Parque Independencia. Inside the city hall or Palacio municipal its a fresco or mural in the Sala del Cabildo painted by a local artist & you can see different eras when the city was founded. My beautiful Coatzacoalcos was founded June 08 1522 as La Villa del Espiritu Santo then Change the name to Puerto Mexico. Gracias por Compartir.

Once again - a fantastic video! Many thanks for pricing the chilies ... I think I better have a chat with my local Mex food grocer! As I have said before, you have a gift for getting people to chat - and I appreciate the chance to practice listening to Spanish. I am very excited to ride along to Puebla and CDMX. In Puebla, we stayed in a student district of Centro in an AirBnB above an outstanding hipster pizza restaurant called La Berenjena. We had to walk through the restaurant to access the suite - but within a day we felt like locals and part of the family. They were great hosts and I heartily recommend stopping by the restaurant (good veggie appies). I also recommend Museo Amparo (might be closed) - a diverse collection of modern and pre-hispanic art in a stunning building with a great roof deck. Because of the many church towers and the volcanos in the distance - roof decks are the way to go for sunset. I recommend Hotel Royalty at the zocalo and The Rosewood (pretty bougie, but if you time it for a sunset drink and snack, you will be well rewarded). We were so busy wandering Puebla that we did not make it to Cholula or Atlixco. Next time! PS - I just made a donation on square - treat yourself to virgin drink and snack on the patio at La Berenjena or on the roof at the Rosewood (which I think is now called the Azul Talavera Hotel). Enjoy!

thanks so much, Dan! I really appreciate it! This is my first time to Puebla, I've been to Mexico City probably 8 or so years ago. I didn't really know much about Puebla, just knew the name for the most part and today I've been surprised by how big and developed it is and how pretty the small part of the center of town is that I saw briefly this afternoon. I'm looking forward to exploring more here and also looking forward to Mexico City. Thanks again! :D

Wow this is crazy, I lived in Coatza for about 26 years! My husband who is American moved there to live with me during 2021, we are not there anymore but this brings me so much memories of my beloved hometown

You nailed this video! Retro synth music matched against the 1970’s town of Coatza worked in harmony. See I love 1960s/70s/80s architecture almost more so than the colonial stuff Mexico is famous for... (but that’s just me, I’m a weirdo lol). Can’t wait to see your Puebla and DF videos.

If you like that kind of architecture there's plenty of it in Poza Rica, Veracruz. Like Coatzacoalcos it's an oil boomtown.

Salma Hayek is from there !

As a Mexican I recognize your awesome work promoting my country. I know Coatza is a dangerous city though. I have a friend who ran out of there.

thanks! The main toll highway out of the city was closed when I was leaving that day and I had to take about an hour detour around the whole city. I was sweating it tbh to take the backroads around to the main highway. Going from Merida to Tuxtla I was on some pretty rough roads that had me a little nervous. I'm still here to tell about it obviously but it's always a good idea to exercise caution as much as possible

Thanks again for all your hard work. Your videos will be a great help in planning future adventures. Great advice about not driving after dark. While most visitors worry about bad guys, the real danger is the poorly maintained roads and vehicles without lights. Be safe and have fun. Mike

Actually Mexico has very good and new roads.. even some of them are better than some in the US... Just saying.

They have a nice, albeit small, archive inside the palacio municipal, you should've checked it out. Coatzacoalcos born and raised (:

I agree. Great advice... Don't drive after dark in Mexico. Also, did you ever get an estimate to replace your cracked windshield?

I wish you had posted a review of the food you purchased at the market. I wanted to know if those tamales were tasty. They certainly were cheap!

Coatzacoalcos is not a new town that start in the 70s , was established since 1522, the original and first church (catedral de San Jose) was beautiful, similarly to the churches of Puebla and Querétaro, it was a real sadness for Coatzacoalcos community when they decided to knock down, to built this one approximately in 2007 . Great video! but more research would be nice.
