If I could erase my memory and travel to Seoul for the first time, this is how I would do it.
After a month in South Korea and several weeks in Seoul, we thought we had done and seen it all. But we set on our first quest of the whole year - walk the entirety of the Seoul fortress wall in 2 days. Like many quests we've set out on, this one turned out to be the best thing we did in Seoul.
#travel #seoul #southkorea #korea #travevlog
00:20 - Can we walk all the way around Seoul?
00:48 - Find Jim Carrey at Seoul station
01:27 - A quest begins!
05:15 - Things get a little weird
07:20 - The city wall provides
09:00 - The evolution of Lisa and Josh
13:15 - Realizing what this trail is all about
15:00 - A side of Seoul we never knew existed
17:44 - Quite jarring
18:24 - We accidentally found one of the biggest food markets in all of Seoul
20:40 - Must try mung bean pancake
21:49 - An alarming wake up call
24:33 - Day 2 is turning out to be great
27:10 - Josh’s dramatic river crossing
29:04 - Gate #8!!
34:00- Getting a little wispy eyed
35:56 - We’re so close
37:25 - It’s about the journey, not the destination
38:42 - Best thing to do after a long day of hiking
38:49 - Budget
38:59 - Bloopers
39:52 - The cutest kitty in the world

City wall walk journey and last gate couldn't be crossed is such a symbolism in life yes the journey and not destination but also, it leaves longing/ hope/ disappointments - all such is life. It also leaves opportunity for you to do it second time. Seoul want to see you again.

I think this is what makes Seoul so special. I do love the extensive view of big cities like New York or Tokyo, but not many big cities have both mountains AND a huge river. All right in the city. Where else can you casually go climbing by subway?

I think it will be the reason I return to Seoul when I’m 63!🎉 I had to add that next your will be 50 years since I left… now I’m really excited to return and walk the wall❤

Protect for 300 years? No, for 600 years ! There are 2 more great walls protecting Seoul, which are Bukhansan-seong (North) and Namhansan-seong (South side mountain wall). Namhan-sanseong is worth to visit as that is one of UNESCO World Heritage. It takes one hour by car from downtown.

So much walking and so many elevation. Yikes. You guys are so fit. Gwanjang market looks the same the food looks the same. I remember that shoe alley at Dongdaemun market there were so many shops. There were close to 100 shops. We know the toy alley super- well but you guys wouldn't have needed to go there. Can't wait to see it again in a couple of weeks. Love these longer videos! BTW that school food place you guys went to is called a Bunshik restaurant and is basically Korea's first "fast food" where people can get a cheap meal quickly. The school food name probably refers to the fact that you find these often near schools and universities for students. The government actually promoted these after the war to push more non rice-based foods since rice became pretty scarce.

It is amazing you guys got the exact courses all the way down there. I know it's not always easy to track the course especially when the "wall" disappeared.
