470 Hitachi Line Machine Conversation Video #6 - Painted & Curing In The Sun

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Here's another update. That actually is a full-size pickup in front of it, not a Matchbox truck! It was outside curing in the sun this afternoon and really looking great. I am planning on getting down there to the shop this coming week as it is back on the line and moving fast. Thanks for Watching!

Hey thanks Craig. It won't be long now. I just stopped by tonight and took some more video and it's getting close to being set up and tested. Equal measures of excitement and anxiety! Hope you're clear of all the fires up your way brother, be safe!

@@TRichard30 Holy smokes! Sounds like you could almost use a fire to dry things out. That's a bad joke. Well, glad to hear you're not burned up. The way the news paints it I was thinking that your whole country is burned up. Good cutting to ya when you can get to it.

To bad no lagging on the drum makes life way easier, we run tractionlines on linkbelt 290's with the high and wide and I wouldn't want to have a bigger machine but we do things a bit different up here.

Copy that. So do you run Metric line then? I heard there was a bit of a mixup when they got started as the drums are lagged for Metric and won't spool SAE. It is big, and probably I'll be in a pickle from time to time wedging her into some of these midslope roads but it was cheaper than a smaller machine and truth be told I don't mind being outweighed at the top of the hill. It also gives us the option of tethering a big shovel. Where about are you working? Appreciate the comment and the interest, be safe!

@@thedailylogger as far as I know we run standard ⅞ swedge line. The only problem with a lagged drum that I have seen is if the line doesn't quite meet spec it won't wind on nice but if that is the case it is probably cheap garbage. The traction lines with the backwards bucket is nice on the skinny goat trails we seem to be on all the time, can set up sideways on trails where the ass of the machine will not let you swing around. I am working about 2 hours north of Eureka MT in BC.

@@banffdigger Right on. So I'm thinking you can run a smaller line because you have the twin lines? Sounds like you fellas have the same road engineers we have working up there, roads are plenty wide as long as you're riding a bicycle and hold your breath on the corners, right? Sorry for being so nosy, but do you tether the cutting machine and yard, or do you tether a skidder? Hotsaw or single grip felling head? Always interesting to hear how other loggers get it done; we're an ingenious bunch. Figure out how to do it better so they can cut the rates! Good talking with you, be safe.

@@thedailylogger up here a lot of or logging is on the side of the mountain with the rocks above us and the roads are at the bottom. So we are punching a trail across the top of the patch and nobody wants to pay for blasting. Also the trails will be reclaimed after the cutblock is logged. Falling is all with a hotsaw we tried one of those falling heads on a 855 and was unproductive with our average piece size. We either grapple yard if deflection is good or hoechuck (shovel log) with a tilter 855 or 870 that has a skidder grapple on a heel. The chuckers are hard on undercarriage and shitty ground is no fun either sliding down over rock benches gets old quick.

@@thedailylogger kzread.info/dash/bejne/mGx8lsizlrmxj5c.html older video of the yarder I now run with a different company, before winch assist was around. The panoramic shots across the valley sort of show the terrain we deal with.
