469-Mile Fly Fishing Roadtrip Across the Blue Ridge Parkway

Over the course of 5 days, we take the Blue Ridge Parkway from start to finish. Starting in Cherokee, North Carolina and ending in Afton, Virginia we fish, camp and live entirely out of our cars. The blue ridge parkway is known for its stellar views, hiking trails and vastness but hidden between these mountains are hidden gem streams full of fish. Enjoy as we take you along the journey with us.

That trout at the 20-minute mark is exactly why I fish in Western North Carolina. That's a perfect example of a Southern Appalachian Brook Trout (locals call them Speckled Trout), which is actually genetically different than a "standard" Brook trout.

A beautifully shot and edited film, guys. Brought back wonderful memories when I was young enough to hike to and crawl over the boulders of a bunch of small streams along the Blueridge here in the Lynchburg area. Nothing beats the thrill of catching and seeing those gorgeous, wild Brooke trout! Thanks for the memories.

I learned to fly fish on a creek in Ashe County, an hour north of Boone. This was a trip back to my teen years, and a reminder to schedule a visit again. My old cousin taught me, "The fishing can be great, even if the catching ain't much." Y'all proved that in every way.

I know this parkway is popular and it more than likely accomplished what they wanted but I am so happy my state of Vermont did not let them build a proposed parkway down the spine of the Green Mountains. Said parkway is now the Long Trail. This happened long before I was born and was stopped by people with a big picture prospective. They also wanted to pave over the White Mountains in NH. Good god.

I’m sure you guys get this all the time, but these videos are absolutely amazing. The storytelling, the views, the camaraderie between friends, and the adventure is all so authentic. I am originally from Salt Lake City (South Jordan) and moved to VA a while back. So to see you so close to where I regularly fish in VA was awesome, and your Uinta Utah trip brought back so many memories as a child. It and has inspired me to make a trip back to Utah for some fishing with my grandpa (where it all started) and see some other family in the process! Your videos have made me get to out to new places as well, and explore all types of fishing. I absolutely enjoy watching everything you fellas create, and it would be so awesome to catch you guys on the water someday. If you are ever in VA again I would absolutely recommend the Upper James near Eagle Rock or the Shenandoah river near Luray for some epic small mouth and musky fishing. I make a 3 day 2 night float trip with some good friends on these rivers twice a year and have created some of the best memories of my life. Please keep going! Life is short and y’all are doing it right!! “Reel life is lived on the fly” 🙌🏼
