    Idioms related to talking . To speak one's mind = express one's feelings . To talk up a storm = to talk enthusiastically . To talk over someone's head = To communicate something beyond the level of comprehension . To have a heart to heart = To have an emotional conversation . To talk in cirles = To argue a point by repeating it . It's like talking to a wall = To talk shop = To talk about business at a social event . To shoot the breeze = To have a casual conversation . Table talk = To talk while eating at a table . To make small talk Talk through = discuss/explain something . Be all talked out = Exhausted from speaking too much . To talk someone's ear off = To talk to someone for a very long time . To strike up a conversation = To start a conversation . Talk about stupid / rude / cheap = a classic example of that adjective . Talk your way out of = To avoid something unpleasant . To sweet-talk = To insincerely compliment someone or praise to get something from them. Fast talk = To pressure someone into doing something . To talk sense into someone = To cause someone to Money talks . To talk someone into = To get that person to do something . To talk someone out of something = To prevent a person from doing something . Talk is cheap = used to say that a person will not do what he says . Talk a good game You're one to talk / you shouldn't talk/ look who's talking . Talk trash = To insults someone . Trash-talk . To talk down to . Talk back to someone . Now you're speaking my language . Now we're talking .

    Sweet talk is more or less an equivalent of buttering up. I liked the "talk about [adjective|noun]". It's a nice one in my tool belt

    Thanks Kayla! Never heard of talking up the storm. I think it's worth adding that there is "you are a fine one to talk" which, I suppose, is the original, more ironic and self-evident version of "you are one to talk". It's easier for students to go with the 'extended' one... for me at least.
