Princess Elizabeth bucked her family's objections to her joining the military. They didn't want her to get involved in the war effort. But she did it anyway. The men that met her said she was very personable, with a good sense of humor and nice to be around.

I am reminded of the irony that the fashionable, well-fitted clothing of the 1970s was but a flash-in-the-pan compared to the long duration of the most stupid trend of pants being worn below the curve of the buttocks with the crotch down by the knees. When I had to take a shift at dress code monitoring as a high school teacher back in the early 1990s, I thought for sure that it was a look that one hoped would go away quickly. Yet, here we are all these decades later, and I still find myself entering the supermarket behind someone whose pants are only being held up by his pubic bone.

There was no female baseball league, yet they had no difficulty to start a pro female league, with highly competent participants, during the WW2.
