We too were hoping for more, but this is development. You cannot know the limitations until you try to surpass them. The customer was happy to trial these parts and in the end was ultimately happy with the performance of the car.

1000nm of talk though that is still a very good increase from 750ish with stage one even though the horse power didn't go up from 370bhp ish with stage 1 . Still a decent improvement and I bet you can rely feel the shove from that now . Omg 1000nm would love to test drive that .

Is it really worth stressing these N57 engines?. I see M57 cars holding their money for what they are, E6x, E9x 535d, 635d and 535d all fetch a pretty penny due to the reputation the M57 has for durability once you take the swirl flaps out of the equation. However I hear the bottom end is a bit weak on the N57 engines, coupled with the timing chain failures, hence the reason fancy 6 series 640d's are selling for stupidly cheap money vs their E63 635d counterparts. If I had one of these N57 jobbies I would be leaving it standard and dropping the oil every 6k miles to try and prevent the disaster of spun main bearings and chain failures.

We've done a few high powered N57's now and not really had any issues with them. A couple of them have been driven for a good few years with over 1000Nm torque and are still holding strong so
