The Dangerfield Serenity pick set is what I would call an expansion set for an existing pick set. These tools are great for rapid entry of more basic locks.
The entire set is made from 301 steel and they are 6mm or .023" thick

Nice review Big Al! I've found that curved reach ball profile to be pretty handy for high cuts in the back of the keyway. Thanks as always, take care buddy 👍 👍

Thanks Brad. Yes, I can see that working well. I have a similar one in the Sparrows Monstrum XXL set. It's just sort of banana shaped but works a treat on those pesky pins out back

Nice review sir. I agree that they would make a good add on for another pick set. Take care my friend. Go U.S.

Yes I like my hook picks but this set has it's place. I do think the shapes are bit radical tho

By the way, I still think the Dangerfield Praxis is one of the best dual thickness starter kits out there. Super value. Wish they had handles though. And don’t sleep on the Polaris rake set either. A bit pricey, but a solid set of rakes. Between those two, and a handful of more specialized picks from someone like Southord and/or Sparrows, (e.g., SSDEV in 15 thou) and you’re good to go for a TON of stuff.

You are spot on there John. I have the Dangerfield Praxis and it's my favorite pick set. Also have the SSDEV's and the Sliver picks from Sparrows which are .012 for those really tight spaces. I like to have many options and this set adds to it. But these will be included in the upcoming subscriber appreciation giveaway

Would like to see them on some real locks to see how effective those rakes really are

Ya these are quite strange. Thats why I recommended using them as an expansion set

I don’t do much raking, usually last ditch effort. Have been actually really lucky with the worm. That said I’d like the last two ya mentioned. The prince and princess. They look like they would be workin picks! I will have a peek at price. Do ya happen to know if they can be bought separately? Thanks for the great review too!👏👏😎🤩

Not sure they would have worked on one of those ABUS locks ,nice to see TKW tension tool included but as you kind of said ,no real hooks and if you want just a rake set there are better ones out there. Great video though ,many thanks for sharing

Yes I have a set of the Dangerfield mini rakes and it has MUCH better tools. These are all very strange. Like somebody was just playing with shapes and decided to cut some out. Thats why I used that cheap lock just so they would work for sure

@@AlbertLebel No, just Masterlocks. 😂 I’ve used them on some Brinks and some Ace Hardware locks with some success. I had a good false set on American barrel lock with the curve but I dropped a couple pins and never got the false set back. I’ve been playing around with an Abus 83/45 with a Schlage keyway core. I haven’t had any luck with the picks on it yet. But I’m not a very good picker and my hands cramp up easy. So I can only pick on it in short intervals. I modified the hook pick to be more of a medium hook otherwise it’s almost useless as is. It still needs a fair bit of room in the keyway to use though. The curve and the deforest ball are the best bet for SPP in my opinion. I think the big selling point on the set are the rakes. The bogota is shorter in height than many bogota picks. So it slides nicely into lots of different keyways. It’s more the height of the Sparrows worm rake. The prince and princess rakes are pretty nice. I’ve had good luck with them. The “swerve” rake is odd enough to be really interesting. I mostly use it in a rocking fashion. Both in the curve up (tip down) and curve down (tip up) positions. I’ve also used it to zip locks with the curve down and the tip up. I really like the set other than the hook pick. That’s it’s one failure. I would like to see Dangerfield change the high hook to a short hook. The curve and the deforest ball could take care of the higher set pins in a lock. But I think the rakes make up for the hook. If you’re not OCD about having matching picks in a case. You could throw in a short and medium pick in the case toss in some TOK and a few BOK tensioners and you’re ready for just about any pin tumbler lock.

@@FriedPi-mc5yt Awesome, sorry to hear about the hands cramping up but honestly it's better to do short sessions IMO. Any longer than about 10 Min and you need to stop because your doing something wrong. I learned that from watching BosnianBill. He would say, "if what your doing isn't working, try something different". I take that advice. I agree about that high hook also, it's just too high for most locks. I think most of these are pretty crazy but as I mentioned it would make a great expansion set for an existing set of hooks. I will be including this set in the upcoming subscriber appreciation giveaway. I will be doing that soon as something else arrives.

@@AlbertLebel My picking sessions can only last for about 3 minutes. So a 10 minute pick is out of the question. Too many years of swinging hammers and using power tools takes its toll. Anyway, I polished my set within an inch of its life. LOL! I thinned the curve and the deforest ball picks a bit too. It seemed to me that they were a bit on the high side as well. One of my daughters played around with the set on a few of her locks and she really liked them. So I ordered a new set to polish and modify for her. It should be here in a week more or less. She has the Sparrows WizWazzle set. So the Serenity picks will make a good compliment to it. At least it will keep her from swiping mine. LOL!! She “borrows” locks fairly regularly and also my practice locks. The kid is going to bankrupt me keeping her going in her hobby. LOL!!

Maybe I’m seeing things, but if you look at the “three peak B rake,” doesn’t it look like peaks 1 and 2 are at a VERY slightly different distance than peaks 2 and 3? Reminds me of the Ebona by Lock Noob. Get your micrometer on that bad boy and prove me wrong. Because, like you said, seems crazy to rename what we all know as a triple peak bogata.

  • @AlbertLebel

Ok so it was hard to measure with my digital calipers but I came up with 3.1mm for first peak from blade and 2.9mm on end peak but ya, I always called these a triple peak and I don't see any difference really. I hope this helps John.

@@AlbertLebel Ya, it was probably the camera angle or maybe just my imagination. I have those two Multipick rakes by Lock Noob and they are awesome. Do they work measurably better than a traditional rake? Don’t know for sure.
