Hello Sean, I’m finally able to start to catch up on your videos from my long month trip from California to Florida on the Atlantic side. My um passed at 97 end of Feb. since I don’t like to fly, my brother came and got me. We had a good trip to his home, and back just be for Mother’s Day. Losing your last parent is hard, tears, laughter, the process goes on. It’s a wonderful plot, the bite is beautiful. I like the layered or terraced garden. It got so much potential and you’ll do a beautiful job of making it your own. I worked in my small courtyard this morning and gardening soothes the soul and brings peace. I’m going to look forward to seeing what you do in your plot. After you get your shed, will you have electricity? Imagine tea in the afternoon or a coffee watching the sunset… perfection ❤❤❤

Sean , I would leave the knotweed alone. It cannot be removed unless it is sent to a special site by authorised contractors. It is easily spread by the smallest root and the roots can go down many feet. If the site us council owned report it to them and they will come and treat it is the autumn with a special chemical treatment. ,,£30 ,per year us very good it's four times that in Cardiff. Good luck my plot was in a similar state took me two years to clear it ...enjoy.

I had a serious smile at "it will be Christmas before we can fart" but completely lost it with the "frog spawn" description of soaked chia seeds. Actually , smiling started when y you said you were going to soak the seeds overnight as i have done this once myself and knew what an inedible mess you were due to get, but chia seeds are great nutrition boosters and the swelling they do can keep you feeling full for hours, Try sprinkling about a tablespoon dry onto your cereal. Adds a nice crunchy texture and all the swelling goes on in your stomach instead. Still "frog spawn" but you don't have to see it. From PA in the US, a longtime fan here cheering you on in your pursuit of a healthy lifestyle. And success with the new plot! I am 80 and still gardening avidly by fully embracing your philosophy of "do a little and do it often". Life changing advice for me. Thank you for just being you and sharing that sweet self with all of us out here.

Hello Sean, Chia pudding is good. Its chia, milk (almind is fine), fruit, and sweetener what ever you like.. Chia seed is full if protein. I think a tbsp has 170 calories. You ask what we were having for breakfast, my usual is bullet coffee. My recipe-22 oz fresh brewed coffee, 2 tbsp grass feed butter (the lovely Irish or an orgsnic one), touch of sea salt, touch of cinnamon, touch of stevia, and 2tbsp heavy cream I follow an intermittent faating program. The fat keeps me full until noon or 1pm when I have next meal which is left ovets or breaskfast omellet and sauaga. Coffee folliowed by ice water. Probably I drink half s gallon a day. Happy you wrre able to get your plot. I can tell you are going to enjoy it ! 😊

Your question on what we do at Easter. Well I went to our sunrise church service down on the beach near Bournemouth. Sadly it was very windy and no sun rising it was too overcast. We have had some stunning ones in the past. Then I cooked up bacon for everyone that went. Your plot looked like ours when we first took on one years ago. Took quite a while to clear all the grass and rubbish and even though we didnt get it till early may we still managed to have some good crops. A nice project for you. Stunning position

I love it Sean! OK it's not very spiffy looking right now, but with the eye of faith, and with support to control the dreaded Japanese knotweed, I know you'll make it beautiful and full of good eating. The view is spectacular. As you say, the secret is just to start in one corner and go steadily, not too much at once. Here's my two pennyworth on what I love to grow, and that saves us a bunch of money: asparagus, sugar peas, mangetout, beetroot, raspberries, all kinds of weird brassicas, rhubarb, gooseberries, French and runner beans, LEEKS! (the best for us are Bleu de Solaise). I left out the tomatoes because I know you don't like them. I have to admit I've thrown in the towel with potatoes and carrots, never had a lot of success with them. I love having a go with things I've never tried before: this year it's couve tronchuda and minestra nera, I hope they're as good to eat as they are hard to pronounce.... Happy growing x 😀

Every morning we sprinkle them on shredded wheat, muesli or porridge. Minimal faff. The Japanese Knotweed...we eat those young shoots!!! Free food that can be harvested over and over!!! Eventually the root exhausts itself and quits producing. The same with brambles, keep cutting the young shoots back and eventually the root has nothing more to give. Those young shoots, dried, make a lovely tea! Good luck! Looking forward to your very rewarding garden adventure!!

That allotment is oozing with prmise! You should be so lucky to have that. For starters don't buy a garden shed. If nothing else there is more than enough material lying around to make several cold frames. There is adequate good wood and many abandonned windows with intact glass. All on the ground waiting for you to pick it up!!! If you need to, google how to make garden sheds and cold frames from scrap wood and left over scraps from building sites locally which would otherwise go to a rubbish tip. YOU use them and you wil be so glad you did. You might have enough leftovers to make a small tool shed also. Once you have launched into that you will find yourself thinking "I don;'t need a 600 pound garden shed when I can make it easily for half that. And design it exactly for your own needs. All you need is a hammer and nails and some effort. Go for it, do it.

During the long cold autumn and winter here in Canada we eat steel cut oats dreaming of the summer when I have overnight oats with some yogurt, assorted nuts and seeds and delicious wild blueberries or fresh peaches 😊. I’m fascinated that you ate raw oats!? Happy you feel at home in your new allotment.

Rolled oats are not raw. They've been steamed so they get soft and then rolled flat. Look up Rolled Oats on Wikipedia. I had cheese and three hard boiled eggs for breakfast. I've got work to do out at the allotment. Oats and fruit won't fill my gas tank. Carbs + fatty liver = deadly combo.

That's a nice size plot and handy with the site shop. Is that the site shop you filmed a few weeks back ? There was some sort of a construction at 15 35 but is it next door?

Bore da Sean, I have every faith that you will tackle all this. I love how you can see past what lies before you & you have a vision & for us, your viewers, it will be wonderful to watch this precious piece of Welsh hillside slowly be transformed. I doubt anyone e that watches your channel is here for a quick fix & those wise words Slow & Steady Wins The Race are very true. I don't know why but this quote by Martin Shaw came into my mind d when I was listening to that lovely birdsong & looking at those views. I hope you have a lovely day. Annie🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 "To be in touch with wilderness is to have stepped past the proud cattle of the field and wandered far from the twinkles of the Inn's fire. To have sensed something sublime in the life/death/life movement of the seasons, to know that contained in you is the knowledge to pull the sword from the stone and to live well in fierce woods in deep winter. Wilderness is a form of sophistication, because it carries within it true knowledge of our place in the world. It doesn't exclude civilization but prowls through it, knowing when to attend to the needs of the committee and when to drink from a moonlit lake. It will wear a suit and tie when it has to, but refuses to trim its talons or whiskers. Its sensing nature is not afraid of emotion: the old stories are full of grief forests and triumphant returns, banquets and bridges of thorns. Myth tells us that the full gamut of feeling is to be experienced. Wilderness is the capacity to go into joy, sorrow, and anger fully and stay there for as long as needed, regardless of what anyone else thinks. Sometimes, as Lorca says, it means 'get down on all fours for twenty centuries and eat the grasses of the cemetaries.' Wilderness carries sobriety as well as exuberance, and has allowed loss to mark its face" Martin Shaw
