Nick loves his Mopar, there is no doubt. But that does not mean that he doesn't have room in his heart for the other brands as well. Today, the Fords seem to be gathering at Nick's Garage.

    Personally blown away by what an 1 inch spacer will do. Until now never would I think a spacer would help in horsepower and torque like it did..pays to have engine Dyno by great engine builders..👍

    Dang today is the start my 67th year of birth and to see my fathers old 53 buick (his was black) sends me back to my youth.. The rope across the back of the front seat, for those guys in the back, no seat belts BIG room in the back. He kept that old car until 1960 when he bought a Ford station wagon, (6 kids by then).. ohhhh white walls too! What a nice start to my day.. thanks Nick... My father would have gotten a kick outta this! once again I thank you for your share and carry on my friend!!

    351 is a 9-5 deck and a 302 is a 8-2 deck so the 351 is a lot taller and wider than the 302 so unfortunately it's not usually a direct swap like people usually think it would be

    Dil Lee My dad worked at GM for 42 years. Corvette Assembly plant. I was around Chevys my whole life. The last several years they have turned me into Ford fans lol. Now I only own Fords while dad is constantly having his new GM suv taken in for problems. It really gets his goat that I haven’t turned a bolt on a Ford in 5 years that I’ve owned them 😎. His last 2 GMs have been a giant headache. Some people can never get past their bias even if it means walking lol 😂

    We bought a 54 Buick Special new. It had the 264 cu in v8 with 139 hp. The trans was the old small 3 speed manual with the converted selector shift. The rear was a torque tube with lever shocks. To start, the carb had a switch on the the throttle that retracted by vacuum once the engine started. Ours had a heater core with hoses and switch in the back seat.

    There is available adjustable pushrods. Far from being a crappy solution, they are actually pretty good. Light and strong, not too expensive and made of chromoly I think. A mechanic friend of mine many moons ago when we were both apprentices built a Ford 351 and couldn't afford adjustable rocker gear so he bought these pushrods and ran a solid lifter camshaft. They worked great. 20 years after that I had an issue with a 318 with 360 J heads and tried to find some of this type of pushrod since I remembered that 351 build all those years earlier and they were easy to find.The ones I used were Mopar Performance. I was astonished at how light they were.

    My friend Bob Cross lost his life after spending Fifteen Years building a Cobra kit car that looked identical to the one in your shop. Bob lined up out front on the road and took off in first gear then hit second the car launched to the right went off the road and hit a corner chain link fence posted the car hit then rolled over to the left throwing another man Cliff. But Bob was belted in and the car rolled over a few two foot by two foot blocks of concrete were he suffered massive head injuries.Bob was part of GM performance division and designed the 502 grate motor among the NASCAR Racing Heads, he was a normal guy who i met and had no idea of his automotive designing skills and prominence among the Racing Industry, at his. Funeral were a ton of racers and engine builders all the top names from both NASCAR and Drag Racing World. He is sadly missed by his family and a multitude of Friends.

Thanks to my dad, to this day i work on all my own vehicle's. Custom length pushrods, you want aprox .050-.100 plunger depth on a typical factory type lifter, this is how i personally remedy this issue on non adjustable hydraulic lifter valvetrains, or in some cases 3 piece adjustable pushrods fwiw, most stock push rods leave a lot to be desired anyways, i use Smith bros pushrods personally

Not that this SBF 427 isn’t badass and all but a true FE 427 is the beast of which legends are built on. Especially the SOHC design, way ahead of its time.

    My FE 394 ci, .020 over that I built 30 years ago made 503 hp and 488 with a flat tappet solid and a 750 off of a 396 Chevy BB 375 hp. There are a lot of tricks to make it run. It started out as a 69 390 2V, but I had it bored .020, forged flat tops, and ARP rod bolts and a polish and peen and lightened the crank a lot and balanced it. I ported the heads and the Holley SD. I added a 1.5 spacer under the 750. 2.11 intakes and 1.6 exhausts with 2 inch primary pipes and 3.5 collectors 18 inches long. I looked at the torque wrong, it was 498 ft lbs and 503 hp and it pulls from 3200 to 6600 like magic and it will keep going to 7200. And not lay down. Idles at 1000 with 14 psig oil with a 9qt Canton deep sump with the trap door baffling and the 3/4 in Sump. I t jumps to 85 at 5500 and stays there. I wish I had put 2.19 intakes in. The heads are C4AE-G really good shape after I worked the short side and bowl. Ford knew what they were doing with the FE. My next one if I get to will be a 4.1 bore and 4.1 stroke for 433.0444 ci. I have a hyd roller from Bullet that with 2.19/1.6 valves should do close to 600 ft lbs and 700 hp according to pipemax. At 63, I need to get with it!

    My dad had 5 Buick Specials back in the 60's and early 70's ranging from 1952 up to 1958 that he drove tell they broke to much for him to be able to repair then parked them in the pasture at our friends house in Pennsylvania the last one was parked in 1972 . the last I knew they were still there but with the salt used back then I wouldn't expect much to have survived all of them looked perfect when parked but you know what the road salt in Yew York and Pennsylvania is like . I've never had the heart to go and look I want to keep my memory's more then I want to get one of them back

    Grumpy468 YEP ! The 70s were interesting cruising WOODWARD from 9 mile all the way to WIDETRACK CIRCLE in Pontiac and back . We parked at NORTHWOOD shopping center, packed that place with over 100 cars on Friday and Saturday nights. 13 mile & Woodward was almost impossible to get through. YEP , I remember cruising in my 1963 Jaguar convertible XKE with my 1966 Ford 427 side.oiler , dual quad 650s , C6 trans w/3300 10" Converter an custom sidepipes. I love this channel because it shows the average car guy all the little nuances of building a modified muscle car, almost nothing is plug and play and it takes a lot of experience, knowledge, patience to do it right, something as simple as putting in a 351w where a 302 stood isn't quite a bolt in deal when the 351 deck height is 9.5" vs 8.2" for the 289/302

  • @gregorytimmons4777

    @gregorytimmons4777

    You will be lucky if deck height is the only issue. The likelihood that motor mounts or getting the clutch, bellhousing, trans, driveline all bolting together is just not as smooth as to be a given. Something not much of an issue on a Chevy can be a different ballgame on a Ford.

  • @derekstewart8175

    @derekstewart8175

    @@gregorytimmons4777 Yep The 351W and 302 is uses different bell housing patterns depending on whick model small block you use and the much taller deck height on a 351w causes all kinds of issues in a chassis designed for the short deck, hence why Most people built a 347 or new frpp boss block with the big bore, 363+ other than a stonger stock block design the 347 is a easier way to go, i didn't list every issue but you get my point that its a good channel showing you cant just throw things together expecting things to just bolt right up, especially in a kit cobra jmo And ford interchangeability isnt the friendliest, like putting a 455 buick in a 350 buick car, lots to change over, hence why i love the Pontiacs i specialize in, same externally unless you use an after market block, some motor mount difference between years but overall pretty easy
