Finally just finished this one. Man I ended up in tears. I have mother wounds as well. You & Xana put it so beautifully. My mother has struggled with addiction since I was 6 and still to this day. It took until postpartum with my second for me to have a complete mental break. I held everything in for so many years, my therapist was surprised it took that long for a break. Energy never goes away, it's still there. Every day I make a conscious effort to make that generational change for my kids and for myself. That being said, I still love my mother. She brought me into this world. I just know the demons are bigger for her than she can ever handle. It doesn't mean that she doesn't love me.

Beautifully said. I had chills all over my body reading your response. This is exactly how it happened for me as well. I had a postpartum after my second and went through the same mental anguish as you’ve described. He’s 3 now and I’m in a much better place all around. I am the oldest of 4 girls. I was the mother growing up. I moved away as soon as I turned 18. I didn’t look back. I didnt cut off communication with my mother but I didn’t invite it either. We did not have a relationship again until recently…thanks to many hours of therapy. I look at where I’m at now and cry. Tears of thankfulness that I got myself out and did what I knew was right. Thank you for sharing ❤

@@21michelekirkland my second turns 3 next week! Crazy!! I too was the oldest and the mother. I actually never wanted kids for the longest time because I spent my childhood as a mother. Therapy taught me that I am so hard on myself because I don't know what a "normal" mother is like. I hate the word normal haha. I have an unrealistic idea in my head of what a mother is, because all I wanted was to be the exact opposite as mine. To never let my kids go through what I did. However, no one is PERFECT. All we can do is heal our trauma, forgive and do better for the next generation. Do better for OUR babies. Thanks for sharing. You are strong. You are loved. You are an amazing mother. 💛✨

I was on a special birthday trip for my little boy and just got back last night. It took me 3 tries to get through this. This was absolutely beautiful.
