Thing is tho., the banner trick only works in Java, in Bedrock you can't use the banner as a marker on a map, so the old lodestone locater trick is the best thing to go with

On servers, the reason to not dig straight down is different. If you have maxed gear lava and falls aren't really an issue, especially with elytra, but cluttering your spawn with a million holes in the ground definitely is, lol.

slabs give you ore blocks since 3 planks is 6 slabs so you get double wood

to be precise, a barrel costs 7 planks because 3 planks = 6 slabs that means the 6 planks plus 2 slabs which equal 1 plank. But chest are way cooler i hate barrels.
