I realised it had somehow been over a year since we last looked at a Titanic struggle of the Heresy, so today is the Doom of Molech. Enjoy? help me out - hit the like - comment. Especially in the first 48 hours of a video, it makes a big difference and therefore to the channel. Lots of stuff coming up planned, including the Apocalypse series I started a while back.

For me it's the betrayal, the treachery! I think it speaks to something in all of us. We have an innate sense of justice, and stories like this just break your heart a bit. The only solace is that some of them die well.

You are in good company. There are many of us lore-lurkers (my name for it) out here, enjoying WH via lore masters such as Luetin09, and he is one of the best for sure. I do not partake in the tabletop side of things, but my understanding is it is quite entertaining indeed, as is the painting of figures (and very therapeutic, I have heard). Me… I’m a minimalist and fiscally frugal to boot. The lore itself is more than enough for my continued fascination with the WH universe. 📚💪🏼👊🏼🤖🙏🏻🔫🔥⛪️l🚀👽😱🫡

Molech had always been an interesting topic of the Horus Heresy, it rivals that of the Cataclysmic of Iron, Defense of Ryza etc. Sheds even more creedence to how Horus himself resulted in his final damnation of power fueled him as he will later use to mortally wound the emperor. Top notch job as always Luetin.

I enjoyed the video. When asking these questions about why the Emperor would seemingly pointlessly self-destructive actions, I think it's important to remember the source material, Dune. That God Emperor's plan was not to rule a perfect domain but to use repression of desire to fracture humanity and spread it so thoroughly through the stars that no one group of people could cause the eventual extinction of mankind. Perhaps even looking at the Council of Nikea, the purpose was to really get people into a healthy respect and fear of the warp to accelerate the psionic maturity of the race. That was a lot but something I often think of when watching videos like this.

Always love these videos, but you glossed over one major thing- when Horus came back at the end, "The face Aximand had devoted his life to serving was now that of an ancient warrior who had fought for longer than he could ever have imagined, who had seen too much horror and whose campaigning days had bled him dry." Granted, the fire in his eyes was bright, but he was different from then on. I mention this because Bell of Lost Souls has an amazing read on "How The Emperor Tricked Horus", and I think it is spot on. Big E left just enough troops on Molech to make a good fight, but still loose, in order to trap whichever of the four primarchs decided to go rogue. And keep in mind, ***SPOILERS*** it is clear from 'SOT: Saturine' that the Imperium will absolutely sacrifice massive numbers of troops and materiel if it will allow for a bigger prize down the line.

If Warhammer40k we're to be a series they would have to flaunt the primarchs perfect memories. To set up the tone for when Horus discovered he forgot something.

You have a lot to answer for, when the algorithm gave me these amazing videos a couple of years ago it got me interested in a hobby I put down 20 years ago. I'm now hundreds of pounds deep in modules and books, and always looking forward to your next video. Genuinely thank you.

I guess I must have blinked, but through most of this, I thought Horus was trying to get to the gate. At the end of the story, Horus just leaves.

I love Titanicus, and the stories behind some of the crazier battles. Any chance you could cover a battle primarily focused on an air war? I love aeronautica and I'd love to hear more. Thanks for the vids Luetin!

A lot of the aerial side of things kind of gets forgotten or put to the side. 2 ones I remember are the battle on Phantine during the Gaunt's Ghosts series and the battle depicted in the book Double Eagle as part of the Sabbat Worlds crusade

@@hammer1349 I've got a copy of Double Eagle on my bookshelf, but I've been busy reading the Arks of Omen books. Oh, and Godblight and Adrian Tchaikovsky's The Final Architecture Trilogy (which is AWESOME btw). Is Double Eagle any good?

@Winning Jubbly I would say it is yes. I honestly hard a hard time stopping myself reading it lol. Kinda think battle of Britain but 40k. Book also has a handy map in it to show where some bits are etc

@@hammer1349 Nice. I'll make it my next read, then! Cheers! And if you like Sci-Fi with First Contact themes, I very much recommend Adrian Tchaikovsky's Final Architecture Trilogy. The aliens in it are REALLY alien, that suddenly emerge from a dark corner of the universe. And their intentions are completely incomprehensible to the human mind.

For me this is evidence the Emperor DID want to become a god, no matter what he outwardly suggested. This was simply a piece of the puzzle. I think he knew he needed to go next level to compete on a galactic and dimensional scale that went beyond a simple Imperium.
