400ex New DRW Protection and Maintenance
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
In this video I install the full line of DRW poly protection on our Honda 400EX. Starting with their chain slide then moving to the swing arm plate, belly skid, rotor guard, sprocket guard, and case saver. Along the way I also installed a new X-Ring chain with front and rear sprockets and a new chain roller all produced by Primary Drive. I also installed a Tusk gear shifter as well.

Always a good day when Pete uploads
Amazed every time I see how clean the 400ex is 🔥
pro tip. always keep difrent sizes of all-thread in ur garage. u can grind a piece smooth and have a perfect punch to knock our ur swing arm bolt. also all-thread comes in handy all the time. combine all-thread with washers and bolts and u have a clamp I have drove in bearings with all thread washers and nuts lol
Swing arm guard isn’t protecting linkage. Stock is better option. Thanks for showing us all the trouble shoots. Most people won’t do that

The stock swing arm protection was definitely better than most machines! I’ve been running the same products on my Raptor and YFZ the last 2 seasons with no issues. It’s not very rocky in our region so I’m not too worried 😊
Makes me miss my 1999 400ex! Great quad!
GT FAM IN THE BUILDING 💫💪🏽
I broke one of the threaded inserts on my belly skid the first time mounting on my trx450r without much torque. Also the oil drain was drilled on the wrong side. Or they countersunk the wrong side of the skid. Bummer Drw!
Great video Pete. Great content on all the work...

@@kbrown5073 I had to cut the swingarm bolt from both sides of the motor, wasn’t much space but if could be done without damaging swingarm and the motor. Before you do anything PB blast the hell out of it and then give it heat from a torch and hopefully it’s breaks loose, you can even put threads on the swingarm bolt and attach a slide hammer.

Just a heads up Pete if you're still have this a good upgrade and it's a direct bolt on is dual piston YFZ 450 front calipers
When are you going to put a exhaust?
Hey man what size chain and how many links for the stock sprocket mines all rusted but idk what size to get
Pete, I would like to purchase a set of these for my kfx400, I don't see the rear swingarm guard. Are they not available?

@@t-money8769 can’t recall what brand chain roller we did. The dual exhaust on our Raptor is what made it hard to do the top roller.

How come you didn't just go with a full ricochet off-road skid plate kit?
I had issues with the tusks shift lever. Because it's made of aluminum it stripped out. Oem shift lever is the best.

Kinda curious why you would go from heavy duty metal skid plates to whatever type of material that is. Around here in the owyhees that stuff wouldn’t last near as long as the thick metal bashing the hard rocks
@PeteHager
2 жыл бұрын
I’ve been running DRW protection on my other machines with no issues for several seasons now. I’ve seen metal skid plates bend up and bind against rotors and chains which can be a pain to deal with on the trail. As with many parts it really comes down to the consumers personal preference at the end of the day 👍😊
Do they make parts for a bombardier ds 650?

I’m not too sure what’s available for the DS, I think they only offer case savers for that machine 👍

Seems like a lot more work rather then an aluminum skid and case saver. And I don’t like the design on the sprocket you are just transferring all the abuse to the carrier bearings and the chain is still exposed
