After I went through a traumatic event, I started crocheting granny squares until I felt better. It was my first actual project. I made a huge blanket, and the squares at the bottom are looser and bigger than the squares at the end where I had become a pro. I decided to leave it as is because it shows how I started to heal and get better at crochet

I too have adhd. I learned to stay with stuff. You can train yourself to get up, walk around or excercise for 3minutes and then get right back to your task. It gets easier and easier but it takes effort at first. Or you can crochet when you go into a " super-focus" state (if you get those). There are things that help like mct oil and multi-phasic sleep schedule (eg; 22- 2.30. 13-13.30 and 19-19.30) KZread is full of helpfull suggestions for dealing with adhd. Its worth trying some of them.@@AlicesHeartz

One of those things found at a thrift store and ends up way more at auction. Someone found a school embroidery sampler at a thrift store that was made in 1890's. Its considered heirloom art/ textiles and sold for around 8k at auction, crazy right?

Working on my first blanket. Its taking a long time and lots of yarn. Its in one big peice and the stitch im using makes it curl. Ive made it past having to uncurl it everytime I crochet. Its maybe 1/4 they way done. Its about a queen size but only enough to cover the surface of a bed, not the sides. Its been fun making it, and I can't wait to finish. Its a gift to my mom, but my relationship has gotren a bit rocky with her. However, I'm hoping things will be better by the time I finished. If not, I'll still give it too her since she paid for all the yarn and holding on to something like that will just be a reminder of what was. Fingers crossed for the best.

What type of yarn are you using? What size hook are you using? What is the approximate size of each awesome tiny granny square? What a fun project to make using up scraps. Thanks for posting. Please show the finished product.

I wanted to start crocheting a couple months back but it felt impossible to just get the hang out it. A couple days ago I saw this quote about how you can expect yourself to know everything and be perfect the first try. You have to give yourself some time to learn and it reminded me of how I tell my son that same thing when he’s upset about his drawings “not looking good” or learning school stuff is “too hard”. So yesterday I sat down and watched a simple granny square tutorial. Watched it a couple more times as I made a couple more and I finally just made one without the tutorial. It’s good to remember that although it seems hard or impossible, it’s only guaranteed to be impossible if you don’t try.

I hope you time how long it takes to maje a square. Then time how long it takes to sew them together. Then you can tell the news how long it took to make ! Call your local news station . And keep calling different ones until you hear back. Or email them. After that, you should try to get it featured in a crochet magazine. Also get video of you making a square and putting it together. This is really special 😊❤
