    We were going to get an x9, but glad we didn’t. We ended up getting a new Claas 8600. It was 2/3 the price with 90% of the performance. 400 hours in, and we had zero problems. I’m really surprised at the issues you’re having and would be very disappointed if similar was happening to ours.

    I totally get running great old equipment and enjoying low input, low overhead. But I totally get the value of a machine like the X-9. I can’t feed one enough to make it pay off. On the organic side, add in no till and planting green, 200 bushels is the “300” bushel equivalent to conventional

    First of all, I just want to say, you produce very intellectual video content. On the ladder issues, which no matter what color of machine, with the X9 being top of the line, John Deere should have integrated an automatic retractable ladder. When the machine is put into gear, the ladder automatically retracts. Sounds like alot but is small change dollar wise compared to other aspects of running a combine. In the end, it's sometimes the small things that make a difference.

    Welcome to industrial machinery. deere builds almost half the North American market at 3600 units a year. With 2 x9 models and 4 s Series. Plus this x9 cuts an operator. Bigger machines for less operators. Thats been the trend in ag for decades. I imagine just the engine would coast 2x to change as a 9 litre they are about $30k the 13.5l in the 780/90 is over $50k. A def system cost about half the engine

  • @EvanC8
    @EvanC83 ай бұрын

    I’m guessing with case NH coming out with their big combine it will push Deere to increase the power of the x9. You can always use more power. The x9 is a cts on steroids. So Deere has had many years with this design that’s why it’s well built even though it’s a new model combine. They did a good job with it

    Some like the ladder and some hate it I've heard. Door handle. Probably an adjustment on it. Think many have felt it could use a little more power. But to much power that one doesn't use. Is worse fuel economy in certain crops. So it is a challenge. Power vs fuel economy. Sounds like the belt thing is really the only big issue. Wonder if others are have that trouble. Adding a fan seems to fix the dust problem pretty well. Some have had bad fuel tanks. Probably a manufacturers defect.

    $1mil and the first thing everyone complains about is the damn ladder. The engineers should be demoted. No engineers should be allowed to have any part in drafting of anything until they have worked at least five years in the bottom of the industry they are to engineer in. Americans tolerate way, way too much terrible engineering and craftsmanship in every industry. John Deere especially should be paying patronage dividends back the customers, which have become their only R&D.
