Welcome to another Full Build video documented here on the channel! This go round the project is a 1983 Alumacraft Bandit 17ft aluminum bass boat. We will take this 40 year old aluminum jon boat and give it a modern restoration!
In this video I'll show the entire jon boat boat transformation from start to finish. I'll show you what we did and how we did it, in the order we did it in. This project is a full custom medern restoration with a lot of labor hours included but in this video you'll see:
Project overview and before footage, trailer work, hull work and patching, foam, subfloor, 1/16 aluminum tube framing, wiring and electrical, eva foam inside hatches and on decking, aluminum decking and lid installation, livewell and plumbing install, cooler install, rod locker work, recessed foot pedal tray, trolling motor installation, seat bases, hatch drainage, templating for sheet aluminum and eva foam, latch installation, steering consol work, switch panel wiring, livewell timer, GatorSkinz installation and much much more!
I'll show you the before and after, the restoration process, what materials I use and tools required, as well as many tips and tricks along the way.
There's a lot of custom fabrication in this boat restoration and many many hours in the project. I do my best to cut the footage down into an edited video that quickly covers each segment of the project. I can't show every single detail of the project due to time length but many of the subjects covered within the video have their own step by step videos on the channel. Feel free to check those individual projects out for an in depth breakdown within their specific video!
Thanks for watching

As a person who works with his hands, it does my heart good to see another professional keep his environment clean and clutter free. Always feel better about my work. Awesome job, the boat looked amazing.
I have an old Elgin semi-bee I’m hoping to convert into a bass boat. Nothing I’ve viewed yet compares with the quality and features you’ve built. Professional IS the most descriptive word I can use. You’ve given me an example of what can be achieved. What talent and skills you guys possess. Attention to detail, outstanding……👍👍👍. I’ve never taken on a project of transforming a tinny…but try I will . At 79, I hope to do some fishing in my tinny Bass upgrade. Thanks for the video.
There is nothing like watching a old boat come back to life... I myself would hands down would love to have a boat hand built by someone knowing your helping an individual rather than a big company... You Sir are a craft master... attention to detail is amazing... maybe one day i would be able to have a boat built by yourself.... Keep up the amazing work!!!!
Very clean and your attention to detail is unparalleled in the tiny boat empire. Keep em coming Dr. Jones!

Your ideas are off the charts! Your definitely an artist. Kinda like going to get a tattoo and giving them the basics of what you want and let them come up with the masterpiece. Can’t wait for more! 👏🏽🙌🏽💯

Absolutely fantastic craftsmanship! Better than old MTv pimp my ride episodes! The boat owner is truly blessed to have your custom build! Phenomenal work! Slack jawed salivation... Maybe someday we are worthy and wealthy enough for a piece of banditry 😎 Now to formulate what im going to do with my recently purchased used 12' jon boat... Thanks for some ideas Blessings and Aloha!

Incredible work! Great details included for DIYers. I’m trying to plan my build. Was curious, (although it’s all “relative”) but for a guy like you who puts so much into it (like I would do) what’s a realistic time frame of how much time something like this would take? If you could work on it days straight, how long would you think? Trying to get an idea before I explode my garage.
Man this has me wanting to do my 17footer into a skiff style.
Man you nail the videos Best I've seen!!! What welder did you get? Keep up the good work...channel ROCKS!!!!
As always A Dub, beautiful work. If I can ever figure out how to send a pic on here I'll show you my boat that was inspired by you and TBN

Hey Anthony my brother from another mother. Big Mike Jones here. Just a FYI, if you were to upgrade the steering wheels, that would be the icing on the cake....Later Dawg....
That's extremely clean. Great job. What does something like this even cost?
Excellent work! Planning to buy my first aluminium boat and transform it just the way you did it, this is amazing inspiration. One question regarding the water pump, what is the exact function of it? Furthermore, the draining from the electric motor pedal, where does it lead the water to? -- Can´t wait to start, greeting from Seville, Spain! 💪
Hey Anthony! I would like to know what setup do you have on your welder and spool gun? It looked like to me we have the same welder and spool gun. I'm working on an alumacraft super bandit 91, but I can't seem to get the welder and spool gun dialed in. I'm trying to do my own welding. And like what you are doing with yours.
Awesome work! I’d like to get my hands on that rod box lid you used for this build. Anyway you could tell us how to get that. I looked on the tbnation website but no luck.
@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats

It's not on the site. You need to email them directly for custom lids. You can mention this boat build by Anthony Jones and the fab guy knows the rod locker lid we built.
May I ask where to get seats like that? Nice work !
So you know how to weld aluminum now. That’s awesome.

Your videos are inspiring me and my teenaged boys to try this. Thank you! In another video, you showed a bottle of "NAFTHA". I know what Naphtha is, are they the same? I apologize if you get this question alot.
Love the way it looks. I have the same boat but its an 85 would love to have this done to it. can you tell me what the actual cost was to have this restored?

What would I be looking at price wise for someone to do a similar build on a 82 bass tracker III 16'?
I am going to have to do the same thing with the doubling of foam for my boat... but i thought in a previous video, you werent a fan of the EPS stuff with the foil backing?

so its ok to use... just not the first choice. Got it.. now at least I know what to do to fill the remaining gap on top of the pink foam
what does that cost to get done and what would the resale value of the boat be after?
Looks AWESOME!! But why did you paint the bow and the back of the boat ?
@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats

Looks "finished". Painted interior of hatches or turf comes standard with my interior build outs.

Not bad for a budget but I'm really no expert. I have learned wire quality shows me a difference and of course fine tuning settings. Practice makes perfect i guess
I'm curious how much space have you reserved for the battery? What is the approximate size?
I am in the middle of a similar 40 year old boat build right now. What was the total cost for a project like this. Just figuring out what im getting into.
#8K When I find out what my new budget will be. I retire Sept 21. I will join. By the way congulations on 8k
I have an aluminum 1986 bass tracker pretty much identical to this boat. How would i contact you for my boat? btw i dont have social media
Do you work on just friends boats or could I bring mine to you? I want an aluminum floor, storage in the benches, and hydro turf. Aluma craft 1540.
How long did it take to complete? How much did it cost to fit out. $?

Why no foam under the very front deck. Just a question dude is off the charts crazy good at what he does you dont see pride like this in just anybody
@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats
Жыл бұрын
Thanks man. No foam up front because the hull does a tapered v and we stopped the aluminum in the flat storage area and left the far front hull uncovered hull for lifejackets or other stuff. It would have been a lot of extra work for an unused area long story short.
