    1) Daz is correct about Indonesia having the largest Muslim population. I've never heard of the concept of being "born" Muslim. 2) Macau was transferred from Portugal to China in 1999, two years after Hong Kong was given back by the UK. I don't know the details, but I would imagine China made similar "promises" to Macau allowing it some autonomy as were made to Hong Kong. 3) Tiny Nauru had a population of about 10,800 in 2020. The population density is only 25th highest in the world, behind mostly city-states and other small islands. 4) The highest mountain peak above sea level is Mount Everest. Because the Earth is not a perfect sphere, the summit of Chimborazo in Ecuador is the furthest point of land away from the Earth's center. Measured from its base far below sea level, the dormant volcano of Mauna Kea on the Big Island of Hawai'i is the tallest mountain. 5) The U.S. being ranked 129th on that "Peace Index" is due at least in part to the easy access of firearms. The world's largest prison population is due entirely to the failed "War on Drugs." (I know you watched the video on Prohibition by OverSimplified. I'll never understand why its failure was recognized relatively quickly, but the War on Drugs has been continued since the 1930s.)

Conversely, I'm a geography nerd--big time! Not surprising about Siberia, since it's the entire Asian part of Russia--about 2/3 of the country. I know for certain that the highest temp. in the USA was in Death Valley's Badwater Basin, and I'm guessing the coldest was in AK. Macau returned to China a year after Hong Kong. His extreme points in the USA were both bad choices, since the westernmost is Alaska's Attu Is. at 172 degrees E., and the easternmost is W. Quoddy Head in ME, for a width of 8388 mi./13,496km. The only 1 of the 5 lakes that doesn't share its border with Canada is Michigan. So that means he's wrong again, re. Lake Superior. On the American side are MN, WI and MI. The American mountain you're trying to remember is Hawaii's Big Island (of HI). The westernmost point in Asia is Big Diomede (DIE-oh-meed, rather than DEE-oh-meed). It's just 2.3 mi./3.7km. west of Alaska's Little Diomede, but 21 hours apart.

Indonesia is the fourth most populous country, and since Muslims are a majority, so it's not surprising that it has the most Muslims of any country. Macau was once a Portugese city, like Hong Kong was a British city. Portugal ceded it to China in 1999. Lake Superior is on the border between the U.S. and Canada (not in Canada alone, as the narrator claimed). Three of the other four great lakes (Huron, Erie, and Ontario) are also on the border. Lake Michigan is entirely in the U.S. Some think that obesity is so prevalent in the Pacific islands because the people are adapted to famine. That is, their bodies grab onto and hold every calorie possible. This may have made their long sea voyages on small boats easier to survive.

Mt Everest is the highest mountain on Earth. Mt Denali in Alaska is the tallest land based mountain on Earth, when measured from base to peak. Mauna Kea, in Hawaii, is the tallest mountain, and the largest, on Earth, anywhere, with a total height of 33,497 ft above it's base. However, this huge mountain is so heavy that it sinks below the ocean floor. When you consider it's true base to peak height, Mauna Kea is actually more than 55,000 feet tall, or a bit more than 10.5 miles tall. It's also 90 miles wide at it's base. Quite an impressive geological feature.

No North Korea has a higher prison population. Also in China those numbers aren’t probably that available they have work camps and possibility with Russia also. Really those numbers seem hard to get for countries like that. Also there’s variance of are these long term prisoners or low level ones vs who has the most max security long term vs sort of shifting population. It’s saying China ranks higher that index seems ridiculous. They have actual work camps. Also constant conflict on their borders with India and pretty much everyone else. They’ve assaulted their own people many times and boarded peaceful in forcibly in their homes there’s no way they’re more peaceful. Also Japan had like beheadings at schools and a full on mad max war over an airport so these very safe nations aren’t exactly like oh it’s so safe for us all. They also do have gangs. Even if it’s less it’s not like you go there and it’s all cool but the rankings seem weird. We can’t usually get clear data on a lot let alone something that size that’s shifting so much. Also data can be manipulated. A lot of violence reporting varies and a ton of violence if people don’t report it then it changes the score and that varies from place to place.

That Peace Index was also jacked up. It's based on a bunch of stats that go against highly populated diverse countries. If you look at the top ten most of them are not multi-racial nor multi-religious or economically expansive. The more people you have from different walks of life, you are pretty much guaranteed to have a lil more strife amongst you. I don't think that America is just slightly less violent than Brazil......Brazil!!! I've lived her my whole 42 yrs. of life and have never had an act of violence done towards me.

America is one of the most violent countries in the world (definitely THE most violent among developed countries). We just gotta own it the same way you'd own anything positive & stop trying to deflect. Whatever you think is the cause, it doesn't detract from the point. And w/ all due respect your anecdote only signifies your life experience, it doesn't really mean anything. Obviously quality of life in the US is highly variable, a big reason IMO why I think so many Americans can't relate to one another.
