Hard not to get emotional. Everyone back then, regardless of age didn’t know just how good they had it. No smartphones, endless surveillance, mis/disinformation, complete lack of leadership, and apathy as the norm. I’d take these cheesy commercials in place of it all, every time.

I love how everyone’s teeth were natural back in the day. Now, everyone has white tombstones covering their natural teeth.

Better to be older and have experienced the 80s than a teen born into these times.

No fine print to read. No fast-talking announcer telling you all the exceptions. No prescription drugs. They're selling products--and not trying to put any kind of political spin on them. We need this mindset back!

As an adult who's the age of my parents when I was a kid in the 80s, while moving about the world (especially my city) I think of how interesting and adventurous my small world confined mainly to my neighborhood and school (or wherever my parents took me) was at that time.

"So Adam, now that you've upgraded to Premium and get to avoid all those annoying ads, seen anything good?? "Movies that actually play straight through?" Me: "Well actually, this morning I watched 40 minutes of Commercials from 1985."

Best decade ever....I was born in 1961. Loved the 80's . graduated from college and went out work. Was close to my family and friends and we talked to each other and went out with each other with no cell phones. We were healthy and more people in the family were alive. Not so many psychos, druggies and people cared for each other and had more patience. No cancel culture. No political backlash. I think of those times everyday and wish we could have time travel. I hate 2023 and the way our country is going. This is the worst I have ever seen it. We have lost control of everything and we all know who is at fault. Also kids today are worthless and don't want to work. Everything is given to them either from their parents or the govt. Cell phones and social media have ruined society. Also back then when laws were broken you went to jail or had to pay for your crime. Now you don't go to jail and there is no bail needed. It's catch and release. I guess it's better than being dead to be alive right now but it's close.

I love how you everyone was naturally beautiful and glamorous. Miss the 80’s beauty standards ❤️

I am talking about beauty standards as a whole . Accepting women for who they are without the fake hair extensions, Botox , teeth , etc because of the pressure of social media stating it is the norm for them . Princess Diana is a great example of the 80’s and natural beauty and other actresses. Oh and by the way - actresses are still getting perms . And so many past fashion influences are coming back now anyways .✌🏻

I did too 😂and when we hit 12, my friends and I would run into each other at the A&P on Saturdays..we would go to the maxi pad / tampon aisle and just stare at the boxes ..it scared the hell out of us lol ,” is this the ones we’ll have to get?” Or “ did u read Are You There God, It’s Me Margaret.It’ll tell you which ones she gets” 😂😂 and then our moms would find us just standing in that aisle & they’d say what the heck are you girls laughing about? You better get used to it! 😂 it was a very serious issue at the time lol

Former Chrysler employee here (late 80s/early 90s). The Dodge Lancer commercial made me LOL. This is the first and only time I’ve ever heard a Dodge Lancer as having “fluid lines” or being “sleek”. They couldn’t even find one for the commercial that had a trunk that lined up properly (0:47). 😂

1980's was a strange time for graphics. Allot of people don't realize that what was shown to the market versus what actually really could be done was two different things the same went for movies as well. The main issue was rendering time was incredibly long and whatever cost ontop of that. So it got to be expensive. But back in the day the company I worked for (Oil Company) we had a graphics demo we needed to get done for a project, that involved a lateral drilling product. We plan on basically the better part of the year for the graphics project just for all the rendering time and creation. So we paid a graphics shop to get it done. In the end the end result was beyond anything that most folks have ever seen for the time. Of course everybody was blown away at the graphics. At the time I had no clue they could even produce a end product like that. The guy at the graphic shop stated to the effect. That they could do graphics that went beyond what was noted in the general market place as high tech. He said the only thing was it just takes forever to do it and most graphic places don't want to spend the time doing it either. Sadly I don't have the video of it. The video was highly protected. So trying to get a copy of it was out of the question and could cost you your job. So i choose not to take the risk of my job over a graphics video. Anyways just some tidbit of information for ya.

Me too, Dallas, Knots Landing, all those shows. I had to go bed at 9 but I’d sneak back out to watch Dallas lol I also loved Family Ties. We stayed in certain nights to catch our shows, no one really does that anymore, after 91/92 it all started to suck

I was 15 years old in 1985. I do remember some of these commercials.

Born in 71 remember many of theses...really drives home how much simpler times were

Nothing made you want to interpretive dance like a Dodge Lancer😀

Arm and Hammer detergent goes pretty hard, honestly.

The 80s were the BEST

Of all things, it was the brown Vidal Sassoon shampoo label that took me back. Reminded me of my cousin's girlfriend at that time in 1985. Reminded of the band he was in, my grandmother's house, how amazing life was.

I don't remember any of these commercials. I was too busy watching MTV and partying on the weekends. Fun times!

Yup. I'm watching 80s movies this weekend. I think I'll start with Teen Witch, then progregressively go back in time. 16 Candles after that.

Growing up my dad always had a handful of halls cough drops in his pocket. Grew up thinking I would need that when I get older only tog row up and wonder what the heck? lol

@@plantpoweredmuscle I was into the same habit with cough drops for quite some time before switching to Altoids, but I've leveled off on that as of this moment as well. I'll probably go back to it though!

So did my sister who was 13. I was about 9 and that show seemed too serious and above my entertainment interest scale in those days.

The first commercial was hilarious. It’s such a hideous car. Amazing.

This is about right, 40 minutes of commercials, 20 min of show! LOL That is EXACTLY how it seemed!!!!!!

Its fun seeing all of these brands that don't exist anymore.

This is awesome, now I’m wishing for the algorithm to bring me 40 minutes of local (Southern California) commercials from the same era. “Summer summer fruits…”, “Toyota of Orange”, “Cal Worthington and his dog Spot”… 😃

I miss jingles. 🎵 Now the commercials today just use songs as background music.

I would have in middle school. As I turned 14 I’m 1985 in November of that year. Back then my life was not that happy. The only thing I’d ever want to have back from then would be my grandmother. Love you Granny.
