I never recommend working on any equipment that could potentially have over 40 cal/cm^2 even if the suit is rated for it. Not that I’m condemning this suit, I’m just saying if the label says 40 cal/cm^2 just dont work on it live.

LOTO Plus PPE is a winner. Especially when shutting it on and off.

What is your point? by the time any human can react/falls from the ladder the arc flash already did a lot of damage.

@@teresashinkansen9402I think he might have been pointing out that the blast itself could knock you off the ladder and cause an injury on top of the burns.

Do you have cal/cm2 for Metal Sheet based on material and thickness?

14 cycles. All this happens in what we call a split second. I'm not sure if auto-darkening lenses are available for these suits like they are for welding.

Had an oberon rep tell me that the faceplate is instantly carbonized and helps to shield from the light.

You can only hope it works like that. Auto darkening lenses use light to darken. This suit would use heat to darken the lenses by carbonizing the lens. Light is much faster at 3 ft than heat. A combination of both would be better.@@ForfeMac

@@Icehso140 It's not like you have much else besides prayer. That kind of light burns right through a shade 13 lens, so there isn't an auto darkening lens in the world that'll block that out.

@@ForfeMac That carbonization should indeed help protect from further radiation burns but I think it wont be fast enough to protect your retinas so maybe an auto darkening visor might in fact be helpful protect vision? Probably they can be made to react in microseconds compared to the milliseconds it takes for the plastic to char.
