40,000 Mile Mark: How Has My Lincoln Town Car Held Up?

My 2004 Lincoln Town Car has recently hit the 40,000 Mile milestone and I wanted to review everything I have done so far. I also addressed some of the problems I've come across since owning the Lincoln Town Car.
Glad I was able to share this moment with you guys! Appreciate all the support and let's get to 3,000 Subscribers!

I think most important is to keep the car in a covered carport. I got all the usual problems with a low mile like you. Recently I replaced AC compressors on both - they were fine but thanks to the warranty the repairshop wanted to go ahead and change them. I think they did motor mounts and something with the ABS. The cars are great, just now it is about "refreshing" some parts to keep them new hehe. I m about to pass 50k! Currently sitting at 49.5

Funny, I added the chrome wheel trim just to cover up the rust in the rear. I did not even bother to add them in the front since the car is a semi-beater.

They’re definitely good for hiding it 😂 I always try to tell people when they’re looking to buy these cars used that they keep an eye on that area for bad rust and bubbling

Nice John! The check engine light and some of the other lights on the dash were illuminated because I had the key turned to the “ON” position but the car wasn’t turned on!

Great car! How do you manage to get away with no front plate in Illinois? You must be in an area where they don’t seem to care.

I had my transmission fluid changed at 78k for the first time and about 30k ever since. I'm at 155k now. Just don't go to the dealer. They will flush it and that is bad.

Yes I’ve heard to stay away from a transmission flush at all cost!

I agree. Drop the pan at about 70k or so. I have an 06 Odyssey and they are known for transmission failures so I drained/filled at 70k and then every 30k or so after and I am at 160k and transmission is perfect.

Thinking of getting an 04’ like yours but nervous about mpg, I don’t drive much in the first place, do you think I should pull the trigger? By chance do you know how much you spend on gas?

  • @GetThisNick

I spend about $50 every Friday to fill up my town car. Obviously it depends on where you live , how much you drive, and what the gas prices are. But for me it’s about $50 every week. 2003 and 2004 are great years to buy, while I heard later years tend to have issues. I’ve had this current town car up for sale for awhile but no serious offers yet

The worst thing you can do is not drive the car. Rack the miles up. A sitting car develops problems
