I love the quirkyness of 80s-90s cars, this goes to show you that companies really wanted to innovate not just on a tech level but mechanical while still adding fun and wonder.

"In 1987, Road & Track published a test summary that shows the 1988 Honda Prelude 2.0Si 4WS out slalomed every car of that year, including all Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and Porsches. It went through the slalom at 65.5 mph (105 km/h), an amazing result for the time. For reference, the 1988 Corvette took the same course at 64.9 mph (104 km/h). The Prelude was Wheels magazine's Car of the Year for 1987."

Wow, even on video the 4ws advantage was apparent. That first U-turn almost looked like you were doing a "tank turn" in a tracked vehicle. Crazy!

Another crazy thing about the 4WS on the 3rd gen prelude is that it's completely mechanical and steering-wheel angle dependent, meaning that the wheels will turn at the same angle, no matter what speed you're going. And with the turning radius of this I don't want to think about what would happen if you cranked the steering wheel to full lock while going at full speed... Would the tires slide? Would the car flip over? Who knows? I don't think that anyone wants to find out. I love this car.

I had an '88 Prelude Si 4WS in white that I absolutely loved. Was so much fun to drive. Kept it about 3 years and sold it to buy a '94 Accord EXL that I also enjoyed.

I had this car in blue. My favorite car ever. I put almost 200,000 miles on it before it died. I always looked forward to driving it.

had it in black while in high school in the mid-late 90s, my high school years would not have been anywhere near as cool if it werent for that car..

Yea Honda did away with some proper engineering ICONS. They should’ve kept around and upgrade on newer model. That’s a very impressive design 4WS, four wheel steer

This is the best car Honda has ever built, and this gen of Prelude is my favorite Honda. The '86 Accord is my second favorite. Is that a 5 or 6 digit odometer?
