Man, you got me with waiting for the right setup to go. I’m planning on my first not camping trip very soon. I’m going to take your advice and stay within an hour or two from home. I don’t have a satellite gadget yet, but my phone does have the SOS feature, so off I go. Thanks for the tips man, I appreciate it.

Back in the day ,packed a only a pillow , in the tail bag , slept on rest stop benches , rocks , against walls, a pillow is amazingly comfortable …two pillows twice the comfort .

Some great tips there. And a good point, many try and get the best gear before even going out for a night away. But I have one more point, go out and have fun wether it’s by yourself or with others, take plenty of photos but don’t rush into thinking I can film this and have a KZread channel. It’s been done to death and there’s unlikely anything new you can add. I’ve been doing it for 5 years and about to hang it up. Get out there and enjoy it and don’t take twice as long to do a trip because your worried about camera angles or getting that great shot. Lives too shot trying to impress others

Filming my adventures is fun for me for the most part. The editing is the part that gets me to 😂 Definitely easier to start out not filming though.

Bang on mate. Good advice. Its all about mindset, being comfortable with uncomfortable situations. I have seen people doing world tour with a 80cc moped. So I liked your point of any bike can be an adventure bike if you have it in you.

Nice one mate, as always. I certainly agree with taking the minimum viable product (MVP) approach to buying gear. Experiment with the cheaper stuff and make sure it's right for you, and then replace it with good stuff if it fails or has a more significant benefit. Otherwise, it's just a waste of money.

Hey Josh Great video keep up the great work and have a safe and happy Christmas Favourite video for the year would be the Creb track video you may not know as yet but that whole area near where I live is 3:20 3:24 now totally changed thanks to old mate cyclone jasper We are still recovering from the floods but appreciate that video the most as I don’t think it will ever be the same again, lions den is seriously damaged and if the track is still possible anymore I really doubt it This video will always be special so I can reminisce on what was once great Keep up the great work Badlander

Thanks mate Yea you guys have been hammered from this cyclone. I did see an image getting around online of that Rex lookout area. It looked unrecognisable. Hopefully it can all be cleaned up and used again soon. Stay safe mate. Cheers for watching 🤙🏼

Hey Josh great video mate. Could you put together a video on your set up and operation of the inreach mini. I reckon you present in a way that’s easy to understand without getting caught up in all the tech.

i'd add take food you actually want to eat, people get carried away with taking 4 weeks of freeze dried dehydrated crap when you can typically restock your food every few days at least. you can carry one or two meals of it as backup food though. it is a good idea to carry powdered milk instead of milk, you don't want a busted milk in your luggage like lance. that would probably be a good idea for a video, everyone's different but there's common things that work like quick oats, packet pasta, salami sticks, baked beans, tinned stew, chilli, powdered milk, nuts, dried fruit even chips etc.

Good point mate. I usually just roll with dehydrated meals. I don’t mind them, but I can’t live on them for days. I just eat along the way where I can.

damit i NEED to go camping more 🤔my set up is what i can afford (tight ass) $40. tent, second hand old -10c sleeping bag(big and bolky ) $20. kmart air mattress , and a set of cheep cooking gear, i think it was around $10. on the bike i have a set of second hand soft bags and has served me well so far 😁 buy what you can afford be it expensive or cheep-ish its up to you 😎👌 i have ridden with people on expensive bikes with all the best gear and i have had as much fun riding and camping as they have 🤣🤔 keep well Josh 😉🍺

Exactly, and while the ban’ owns all their great and bikes you can have fun knowing you own it all and if something breaks you can just buy another. Nothing funnier then seeing someone on a new t7 and drop it

My top tip is to buy as much as you can second hand initially, then build it up or swap it out if / when you can. There’s heaps of people out there who have finished with their stuff and it’s often very lightly used. Good for the environment, and you’ll have more cash for fuel ( or beer 🍻) 😎

For more populated areas you don’t really need cooking gear - just buy your meals and there’s cooking dealt with.
