Hey Yang Yang....great video and easy to understand principles. I loved the camera angle when you were playing your partner. My problem is judging my proper playing distance. Can you tell me approximately what length you are standing from the table? Would also be great if you could do a video explaining ideal playing distance against all styles. Thanks again, yours is one of my favorite channels! Keep up the good work!

One more tip: It's important to deceive when you serve to the opponent's backhand so the ball can't go over the net. You can deceive in different ways: either change the amount of effect that the ball will take, or you can serve without effect at all (after having served backspin). You can serve backspin/sidespin to the opponent's body or elbow (the LP player will rarely move) with little effect, and the ball will fall.

Thank you Dear YY. I can play both JPEN and HANDSHAKE...and my HANDSHAKE style is defensive with 1 long pips and 1 inverted pip on the other side....whilst my JPEN is all out offensive style BUT....I added a long pip rubber behind just for the fun of it....and have frustrated many opponents. I do not have a fixed BLADE to use.... cos it all depends on my opponent. If he has thunderous forehand and outplay me in offensive style, I will change to handshake for the 2nd set and use long pips to frustrate him. IF he is a 'pusher' then I will use my JPEN to top spin most of the rallies.

Problem is Raymond also can use the smooth rubber forehand to kill the ball. Many long pip players can twiddle and kill the ball if you give them a weak ball, forehand or backhand. But if you block the attack back, half the time they forget which side they are using.

Playing pips is not easy but the general rules still apply. Do you serve long or short? Do you have a good top spin on at least one wing? Do you have good concentration? Even the best players occasionally make mistakes against the different rubbers under pressure. Do you get a chance to practice against long pimples? Without practice it is unlikely you can turn up and beat a pimples player of similar standard to yourself.

  • @john.s1962

Fuck no, don't listen to her. Defenders go back and chop the topspin ball, they never ever even try to block with longpips. That playstyle is for shortpip blockers and attackers. Longpips are designed to chop from 2-3 meters from the table and reverse the topspin ball. As someone that plays against european defenders, i know that blocking with longpips, IS ILLEGAL, never lift the ball with longpips. If you want to, switch to your rubber and play like that. The guy that plays there, plays like he has soft shortpips, and yes, for shortpips, he uses it right
