I'm freshman college and I started my shoe cleaning business this year for fun I just experiment my cleaning recipe and rebrand the repellent that I saw from china they sell it for 2$ and I resell it for 6-7$ each... now I own a store and making 1-2 grand monthly I'm also an admin from a group with 250k+ sneakerhead members from socmed... My next plan is to import legit sneaker from different source that I know and I'm planning on learning how to paint and treat sole seperation... anyways my advice to others is get knowledge and experience from THE EXPERT if there's sneakercon or community in your area you can join them and ask the pros lastly if you want to promote your product GO TAKE FULL ADVANTAGE OF SOCMED and E COMMERCE!!

i hope i’ll get an answer for this question. is cleaning shoes and restoring shoes are the same? for example, since i want to start a shoe cleaning (part time), i’ve been thinking what if my customer is expecting me to restore like reglue and repaint their shoes? but my capabilities are only cleaning shoes, is still a pass?

It will be fine :) just be honest with the customers and tell them that you are still learning. We had to reject alot of reglueing jobs at the start too.

I wish to start a shoe cleaning business

Started my business a year ago in my country Botswana and the only set back is i can find paints to restoration both canvas and suade please assist on how to g about it.

Hi Ernest yeah, it really depends on the availability of the brands and stocks in your region. Angelus has a good range of paints for leather, suede and also canvas from the US but unfortunately shipping can be prohibitively expensive.

Great question! Happened to us back in 2017 when an ex-staff left us to start their own brand. The honest answer is you can’t really do much about external factors only can aim at improving your own appeal to customers in terms of - service quality, customer service, location, pricing etc

Hi there! Currently we use Shoe Mo own branded products. But really depends on what is available in your part of the world, but any available stable solution that is safe and has good removing power should be sufficient.

@@haarishpatel8465 For the brushes quite standard you can check out our video about the different types of common brushes (PP Brush, Premium Brush, Horse Hair), as for cleaning solutions perhaps you can try Jason Markk / Crep for starts but maybe slightly on the pricey side.

Yes it is. But its still quite “hands-on” as alot of it is building a team + operational structure to manage multiple outlets. We have 14 outlets across 4 countries, of different performances. Would say it performs similarly in trend to a barber business - wont make you rich overnight but the trend/demand is there.
