4. Spektrum AR637T Setup - Panic

This video will cover how to setup Panic mode. Panic mode is similar to a SAFE Self Level/Angle Demand mode, but it is accessed with a separate two position switch/button that acts more as an override to the current set flight mode. While the desired effect might be achievable by just having a SAFE flight mode to resort to, some might prefer this method instead. Panic setup requires having configured and tuned at least one flight mode with SAFE Self Level/Angle Demand mode.

Now this is a good video, no way anybody could configure this out without the video. Spectrum, how we would anybody know what that flight mode setting meant, and talk about screwing over someone taking safe off on a flight mode assigned to panic not realizing it. I get there is a lot to learn about the hobby and Spectrum does videos and the guy is good but they need to do about 5 times as many to get people going.

Thank you again for your videos. I was able to get my new AR637T all set up in my twisted hobbies 39" Flash reloaded. I am going to test the SAFE out in my next flight. this unit has a lot of settings but once you do it it gets easier i think.

Thanks for the valuable information. Question: Let's say you set panic to FM4 as suggested and tweak FM3 settings. Let's also assume you have FM4 and FM3 on different switches. Now if both switches are set to those corresponding FM's,, then wont they clash? Or is FM4 only engaged after panic mode button is pressed regardless of switch position?

I believe in this particular case, FM4 is not assigned to a switch but is a copy of FM3 that can only be activated by pushing button I.

Hi Miguel, Thank you for sharing such a detailed and helpful Video on setting up Spektrum AR637T I do have a question though about PANIC Mode. I have set up on my ix12 transmitter exactly as per your video, but I am confused as to how you can test If PANIC works when it is in SAFE mode, as SAFE Mode has already implemented the corrective movement of the control surfaces, so when you press PANIC there is no change to the control surfaces, where as all other non SAFE Modes work a treat and the surfaces move to level the aircraft when PANIC is selected. I did hear you say test PANIC in a NON SAFE Mode so why is there an option to activate PANIC in SAFE Mode? I would really appreciate any help you can give me on this, thank you.

Richard I saw what you did. Basically “beginner mode or safe mode” are the panic mode settings and therefore panic mode will really only work in intermediate and experienced modes. Safe mode should not let you get inverted....just my two cents...

@@richardbooth3848 Yea Spectrum needs to get their terminology straight. Safe select, Self Leveling/Angle Demand, Safe Fail safe, and panic mode. Panic mode seems outdated to me with safe select. The we have the word "smart". Smart batteries, smartsafe, and smart esc. Spectrum, you make great products but stop using the word "safe" and "smart" for everything!

Way too complicated. I'll keep using my AR636's, Spektrum Programmer software, and SAFE Model Builder..
