great mod, those old mechanical clutches were constant headaches.

I used to have a 1968 Ford Galaxie 500 with a 3-speed manual on the steering column. Strange thing to see on such a large car.

I bought a clutch pedal assembly for me car the other day. I’m trying to get the automatic assembly out but I’ve hit a snag with some studs that seem to be attached to a steel bracket that is behind the aluminum bracket. Do you have any tips on how to actually get it out. Do I have to pull the dash or what? Thanks

Did you just drill a hole through the floor for the cable to come through?

I'm wanting to do a similar swap into a 69 falcon. Ive got the transmission but I cant find the correct shift linkage for it. Same trans and everything anyone have ideas?

+Johnny Dole Not a strong as some other transmissions but can handle a small block fine. Don't put one behind a big block though, my dad had one of these transmissions in his 460 Fairmont and it got chewed up in no time.

What clutch cable did you use?

it's for a 79-82 Mustang and it adjusts down at the fork. don't use the later self adjusting cables, it wont fit and they suck.

What did you use for the clutch pedal assembly?

The pedal assembly is from a 69-70 Galaxie. I just grafted a modern cable on to it instead of using the mechanical linkages.

Zephmont how did you get so lucky to find one for a 69-70 galaxie, aren't they almost impossible to find

A 70 Galaxie that had a 351w and a 3 in the tree came into the local junkyard around 2003. My dad was the one who salvaged the clutch pedals just to have despite the fact we didn't have one of these cars at the time.
