From a young age I was efficient in routines. Finding efficiency brings me peace. My biggest tips: pair a task with a routine. Keep a daily routine: the same stuff daily! For instance every morning I get dressed before leaving the bedroom. I unload the dishwasher and make my coffee at the same time next. Every night before bed I start the dishwasher and washing machine before bed. In morning I unload dishwasher and switch clothes to dryer. When my son is in the bath I fold the laundry load as I watch him. Its all paired. Its a task within a daily routine and it never changes. After I use the washroom I pickup one thing in bathroom before leaving the washroom: could be anything: wipe down the mirrors, empty the garbage cam, or wipe down the counter or toliet. There is never a day where things are piled up because the day has routines. Keeping a stair basket on the stairs for things that go up helps too. I dont have a laundry bin in every persons room. I keep the laundry bin in the hallway that leads to bedrooms. Everyone dumps dirty clothes in there. One load a day. No sorting needed. I just fold and carry clothes in that bin the the rooms and it is so fast. Keeping a dirty kitchen towel bin on top of fridge is a game changer. A paper calendar notebook for the year is a must. Then the weekly white board on fridge gets updated. Once you find your rhythm the mental load lessens because you know what time of day you do “xyz” so now your brain has space to be present and chill out.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share this advice, i feel like while i already do this in some ways, i can really benefit from this simple and clear plan of action. I like watching videos on home making and efficiency, but I'm not sure that i have heard this technique laid out so plainly and clearly.

I keep a 3x5 card for each of my family members (kids, me, hubby, dogs) regarding their health stuff- teeth, vision, Dr's stuff, labs, re checks. That way I have it all in ONE PLACE- one for each person. I can refer to it often when filling out Dr.'s forms, and remembering who did what when. OH MY WORD, this has been the best tip I've implemented. I don't have to stress. Flu shots, Covid vac updates, physicals, dog vet appt. THE BEST.

These are great tips! Appreciate the video. As a mother of 8 kids ranging from 14 years to 8 months I feel overwhelmed very easily, several tips that help me to get my work done is popping in headphones while washing dishes, folding laundry and having a mini me session even if kids are around me. I don’t pay attention to the whiny noises or the bickering. Another tip is having a small journal to write down the things YOU HAVE DONE at the end of the day. Oftentimes we go to bed and wonder what in the world did we do today that was productive and writing it down will make me feel better. Even as simple as folding that laundry or filling out paperwork or grocery shop will already make you feel better. Stay blessed

The part about splitting tasks among days is so true. I have a similar list just for cleaning tasks that helps make keeping a clean home more doable. The part about putting away your phone is such a needed message. Our phones are a detriment to our focus and such an unapologetic thief of our time. Thank you for your video!

I am so, so excited about ALL of this! I am currently transitioning from being a mother of two who works outside of the home to a mother of three who is going to be working from home, and we are also praying about possibly home schooling. Right now it just all seems impossible. With a newborn and my other two children home for the summer, I am very overwhelmed most of the time just thinking about what I need to do next. Thank you for sharing and I look forward to learning more about you and your other content.

Hello, this is the first video I’m seeing from your channel. I’m a homeschooling mom with 6 sons ages 11 down to 1……this is incredibly helpful! I have been struggling so much with the mental exhaustion and decision fatigue that comes with daily life, from the meals to keeping tab on what each child is doing and what they *should* be doing in any given moment, it is just very stressful. I know that I need to get more organized and structured, and think on these things, however, I never feel like I really know how to execute ‘getting organized’ and planning, so this video was definitely helpful, with you sharing how you actually created your binder. I’m also TOTALLY guilty when it comes to constantly filling the silence with noise and information, and I do notice the negative impact it has on me when I am trying to listen to something in addition to managing children and interruptions. My husband works from home and there was a week where I would bring my phone to my husband and just set it on his desk. I could always go and grab it, but it being with him gives me extra accountability. I have tried sticking it in a drawer or in my bedroom, or really anywhere, but it just isn’t enough. The week I was bringing it to him, we had the BEST week we had had in a long time, and I felt so much more capable. This past week I did not do it, and well, things took a hard dive, so that one thing is so vital. I do have an Apple Watch I wear, so I’m able to see if I have an important text or answer a phone call, but otherwise it isn’t a distraction like my phone is.

This video was super helpful! Thank you for actually showing us exactly what was in your binder. I just had my 3rd baby within the past year and also read the Home Management book after having him, but was struggling to get a binder together and caught up in the details of figuring out how to organize all the things. So seeing this practical & real-life application was really helpful to me. 0 to 1 has been the hardest for me, but no kidding 2-3 makes a person have to be on their A game whereas I felt like I was totally keeping up with 2 before. Gonna add some prayers in too, I love that touch!

I rarely leave comments, but have been watching you for years! I LOVE this video, thank you so much. It has been on my heart for the past year that I need to organize my life more. There really is something about that 2 to 3 transition, isn't there? I am currently 28 weeks with number 4 and STILL feel scattered. I love that you gave practical tips, but also explained the thought process behind it so we can take what we need and leave the rest. Too often there are strict rules for homemaking - daily eights, schedules, etc. Yet all of our lives look different. You've been killing it with the content lately, love the direction you are taking. And as an aside (and from a fellow Catholic) I really enjoy that you have incorporated your faith a little more and we seem to have similar mindsets. Hugs xx

Great video! I have my mom schedule and it is so mentally freeing! I would love a video on your sour dough schedule. I really want to get into that but have no idea where to start. I love the idea of a schedule of things to make with it because I don’t want to just make bread. Thank you!

Becca, I’ve been watching your channel for years since I was a dietetic intern! Now I’ve been a dietitian (just hit my 5 year mark!) and have a KZread channel of my own. AND… in this chapter of life and 30 weeks pregnant! And let me tell you, I’m super overwhelmed. But this video gave me a huge sense of reassurance that I can make it work. It may not be perfect, and it may never be the same as it was before, but I can be a mom, a business owner, and have a KZread channel! Appreciate you for sharing your secrets. Trust me, I’m taking notes! 😂

I have been looking for this kind of advice/help for a couple of years now. And we have so much in common. My oldest is 5 and my youngest is 8mo- four kids. And I feel like a crazy person, desperately trying to batch tasks and enact a routine that will last, that captures most of my to do list. My husband and I have a small business, and I am trying to do the same thing with that as well, so we just don’t fly through every day putting out the biggest fires. Thank you for the advice, I think I will start with the brain dump and the mom binder, or maybe the quick morning routine😊. Wish me luck so I don’t lose my mind😂

A home binder is a must, and yes get a house keeper 2x or 1 time a week what ever you need. It’s in the budget, cut something else. You don’t need all that TV watching shows. Cable was the first to go, Netflix and other things we have. It’s in the budget it’s totally worth it

This was the nicest and most insightful kick in the butt that I didn’t even realize I needed so THANK YOU 🙏🏽 Being 4 months pp with twins + a toddler has me SO scattered, overwhelmed, whiny, and simply unmotivated. But I’m totally a type A person and it leaves me feeling conflicted daily bc I want so badly to be organized and productive but then I don’t do the things. I definitely don’t have the current space to be *quite* this organized but it has absolutely inspired me to take charge of my overwhelm, my mindset, and my home. Such great tips and tricks. You’re a rockstar mama and business owner - thanks for sharing!!
