Very interesting. I've got a spare bench grinder. This ould be a nice project. It's not like have an advanced degree in drill sharpening by hand. I can use all the help I can get :)

It's an easy setup to make, and use (although it's definitely still a "skill" to learn), but it *really* needs drill collets to get a repeatable grind. I've got a second video coming on how the 15mm drill I sharpened there performs. I've got ideas for a ghetto "one size fits (nearly) all" collet, maybe a third video there.

I submit the centrality of the point is quite poor with this method but it is fast.

This is true - centrality can be poor, but on the other hand, it's is no worse with this method than with any other manual sharpening process that doesn't use a depth stop and indexing system. It's very true that repeatability is poor with this setup, as taking the drill away to test centrality against a gauge loses its rotational registration, and it's hard to keep cutting edge parallelism with a manual "indexing" method My current setup uses square collets holding the drill, thus keeping registration, and the collets run against an adjustable stop. this pretty much solves the issus, although if you're taking a lot off a totally massacred drill, changing the geometry, or completely resharpening from a snapped stub, it's necessary to relocate the drill in the collet (and re adjust the depth stop) for refinement purposes.
