  • @lofiseed
    @lofiseed3 жыл бұрын

    Personally, I would go with XDIV over VDY and XEI. Because I already own XIC I feel like a nice balance to that would be a more concentrated dividend-focused ETF... if that makes any sense.

    fun fact about vdy. I think the avg monthly dividend is actually 11.5 cents/mth. One month it will pay you 9cents per share the then another month it'll pay you 14 cents per share. Probably because its so heavily weighted in the Canadian banks.

    @@to3sted248 Dividend yields, usually expressed as percentage, is what a company might pay out to shareholders. It's usually a small amount per share. Not all stocks or ETFs offer dividends, and, similar to the worth of a stock on an exchange dividends can fluctuate (although, in my limited experience, they don't fluctuate often, or by much; last 10 months 2-3 ETFs have dropped 1 cent, but 5-6 have gone up a couple cents). They can be dispersed within a certain frequency usually monthly, quarterly, biannually, or yearly.

    Yes it requires capital. However, start with as many shares you can afford, and use the dividends to buy more. That is what I do and it works... Once you establish the amount of shares you want, then you can use the dividends as added income. Put them in your TFSA and you will pay 0 tax as long as it's Canadian stocks.

    I just started my portfolio on questrade, currently holding XGRO/BTCC.B Noob Question: Does it make sense to add more ETFs in my portfolio? Im afraid of me doubling up on some of the same holdings. Not sure if this makes sense.

    depends how much money your putting in monthly, if you're putting in 100 bucks a month it doesn't make sense to diversify that much IMO, but if you're putting in 1000+ a month yes you may want diversify, but never go crazy, i see some people that have 20k invested and its invested in 30 stocks, that makes no sense, you can't PROPERLY track 30 stocks, sure you can look at the charts, so you'd be smart picking 5-10 good stocks that you know inside and out and that work for you and just every month buy more, I have stocks that every single month i buy more of it.

    I hold both VDY and XEI. I was contemplating whether to invest in just one of them as they are essentially the same. Not sure what I should do just now, may be I'll invest in only XEI as it's much diversified than VDY. A question that I have is if I have invested in these ETFs through a trading platform like WealthSimple, when is the MER fees get deducted? Is it deducted from the dividend that they issue or do they take the fee directly from my account?

    Just to put a final option out there for who ever reads this (not financial advice please look into this stock before buying) but TNT.UN trades for a average of 7.4$ a share and each share pays 5 cents a month constantly they are a real-estate company who rent most of their land to the canadian government

    Hello, thanks for this video. M new to investing, just wondering about REITs esp commercial buildings in covid and post covid world where lot of people who can work from home are working from home. These people are in millions and commerical office buildings would be ghost town at the moment and may still be in the future if work from home becomes a norm..what are your thoughts on it? Are their REITs specific to residential not commerical office buildings.. please do a video on that. Thanks

    Hey Brandon, Is ZWC still a good buy today? Also, if am looking for a long term return (say 1-2 years), how much would you advise me to start putting in monthly into this and the other ETFs that you talked about? PS: My savings for a month are around 1000 CADs, so please advise a breakdown. Many thanks ^_^
