Re: weight of the backpack - I was thinking the same thing! Her materials are all heavy duty and of high quality. Nothing "ultralight" there. However, this is the type of equipment that will take a beating and last for years to come.

And an encore from Switzerland. Yep .. that Pack must weigh a ton .. although I would presume that they don't 'hike' any huge distances but get to a Base Camp and work from there. Her equipment .. not any plastic etc (if any) to be seen .. only 'traditional' robust materials and consumables. A fantastic upbringing for the children.

In these trip it was som 12kgs, food and water included. My children also carried some gear and food in their backpacks. prosit neujah!!!!

@@kayakncamping It is like 12kgs (25lbs) Not light but not too heavy. Most of the kit are tools not gadgets so i sacrifice a bit of confort in exchange for endurance. Soviet gear used to be heavier :)

@@ani4x4 Just wanted to add---you're creating memories for your kid's that will last a life time. Both of my daughter's are grown now, with their own families. But, they still remember, from when they were little, particular canoe trips, hunting trips, hiking to their favorite camp sites, "smores" over an open fire. All things that, at the time, I just suspected they would forget. We had little money when they were growing up, but we were rich as a family and how we enjoyed ourselves. I truly do commend you. @@ani4x4 you should try shooting at rotted birch stumps next time. there is a pasttime called "stump shooting" where you shoot at rotten soft wood stumps as you walk through the woods.

Great video! I like that you've brought your children along, and are teaching them the value (and the fun) of these life skills. You can see that they enjoy your company, and enjoy the skills (and toys) that you're modelling. I can't believe how much they've grown since your winter video! I also enjoy the patience with which you carry out your tasks. Every movement is purposeful, no energy wasted. Nothing happens quickly, but with deliberate precision - from cutting the log to preparing meals. It's a joy to watch. Thank you for another great video. :)

They are Russian Gorka suit trousers. In this case Gorka 3 Flis (fleece) Really tough and quite cheap :)

@Robert From watching another Ani4x4 video, I learned what type of pants and shirt/Jacket is part of the Gorka 3. I found them on ebay. She is absolutely right, they are tough and cheap for what you get. I was impressed with the quality. Ani has many other very informative videos that are in Spanish. Even though I don’t speak Spanish I watched and gleaned some good information.

Thanks .. I was also wondering what pants. Perhaps look at the Online Finnish Outdoor Store .. Varusteleka (they stock Gorka). I don't know how they compare to other outlets but their prices seem to be reasonable. I have bought from them .. easy with very good service and a delivery time (Finland to Switzerland) of 3 days. Order Saturday Evening .. delivery Wednesday.

I love the way your children play and share so well together. It was nice to see them take turns on the swing and push each other nicely without roughhousing. They are gentle with each other. Surely they learned that from their mother. God bless.

@@ani4x4 They obviously follow their mums bare bow skill. Maybe worth carrying a small straw target, they're not too heavy, it'll save your arrows.

Great episode, reminds me of camping with my son and his friends. I initially worried about how to entertain them with projects in the evenings, after food they were fast asleep. Too much canoeing and fresh air just knocked them out! Your kids will thank you one day when they are taking their own kids on adventures like yours. There is a great bonding that takes place, no IPads Iphones etc. Teachers should show your content to their pupils. Thanks for sharing, love the dog.

Muy buen vídeo y muy buena experiencia. Dentro de este mundillo que se ha dado en llamar "bushcraft" o "supervivencia" eres claramente una de las mejores (si no la mejor). No te limitas, como otros, a enseñar los "juguetitos" que han comprado, si no que eres capaz de realizar actividades en la naturaleza con el equipamiento mínimo.
