4 CHAINZ!!! Legacy Anvil Chains Loam Pox! Urza's Saga Prison with a classic EDH combo! MTG MH2

Ойындар

2 Chainz? DOUBLE IT! I play a Magic the Gathering Online Legacy league with Anvil Chains Loam Pox, a classic EDH combo ported into Legacy by Patreon subscriber Robert! This deck uses Chains of Mephistopheles and Anvil of Bogardan to create a prison lock where nobody gets to draw any more cards. Urza's Saga creates killer construct tokens or tutors up The Rack to win the game when the dust settles. All of this nestled comfortably in a Loam Pox shell. MTG MH2 4 Chainz

    The way replacement effects apply if you have a Loam in the bin or hit the Loam at any point after getting Chains+Anvil in play you can dredge Loam instead of Applying Chains and you get to keep the card you drew for turn and break out of the lock. Source: it's me! I built the deck. Guess I should have put that in the provided info when I donated for the deck lol

    Nah. The only 2 times you had both in play you didn't have Loam against Delver and were dead anyway, and against Green Post you found it but were already dead at that point as well. Also like I said it's a very niche interaction that I definitely should have mentioned. Especially since it was sorta the Impetus behind the deck. I goofed.

    Back when Gitaxian Probe was still legal and you could play Cabal Therapy in your ANT decks, I used to love going game 2 or 3, turn one instantly blind cast Therapy naming Mox Diamond against this style of deck. It was particularly fantastic when my opponents tanked on their opening hand, because that meant they didn't have a hand which could kill me faster than I killed them, but they did have some disruption or they couldn't keep the hand, but the disruption wasn't a one mana thing you can just snap off. Which meant the most likely hand for them to have was at least one Mox Diamond plus a 2 mana disruption piece. A long winded chain of logic, sure, but it worked every time. Hit two Moxen several times, and got my opponent to think I was a goddamn cheater who somehow looked at their hand to boot.

    Anvil of Bogarden is an old favorite of mine. Before 8 Rack was a thing I had this janky mono-black that ran them with Megrim and Underworld Dreams. I'd wipe the board with Mutilate until I could tap out for about 40 black with multiple Cabal Coffers + Blanket of Night + Deserted Temple, then play Null Profusion and proceed to play about half my deck. They'd take 30ish damage in their draw step. It was loooads of fun.

    Watched about half of this when it was first posted. Finally had time to come finish watching. I love Anvil+Chains. One of my favorite Magic memories involve these two cards. I used to Stream MTGO Commander content on Twitch until my computer died. I havnt returned since I sold my collection to fix the computer. Someone I played regularly invited me to a CEDH Discord community he was a part of. Met some cool people and had some good games. One day I am Streaming a Nath The Gilt Leaf Stax deck with this combo in it. The guy who owns the CEDH Discord channel pops into the game with competitive deck: Thrasios/Vial Smasher I believe. Really quick Chains wins that game. I start another. He joins. Same result. Now other members of the group are joining in. I'm now playing straight CEDH pods with Nath. I reliably find and resolve Chains, Anvil, or both in each game. I win each game. After about five games of being completely destroyed by what is generally considered a low tier Commander, they get salty and leave. I go to message someone on the Discord channel and find I've been booted. I ask friends in the group. Guy's official answer is I was booted for playing non-competitive decks. Always makes me laugh when I remember it. I miss Commander. Love Chains and Anvil.

  • @PatriciaCross

    @PatriciaCross

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@BoshNRoll they really did. Honestly I think they didn't like being beaten. Group makeup seemed to speak to that. And he clearly never played against Chains before, or made any effort to understand it. First two games, he played a Brainstorm right into it. Me *plays Chains, pass* Their turn *Brainstorm* At the end of the last game he was saying I was only winning because nobody was countering my Chains/Anvil/Stax piece. He filled the table with CEDH players with excellent lists for multiple games, I just played accordingly and resolved what I wanted to resolve. Could not recognize being outplayed. It's really sad; because an attitude like that actually prevents you from becoming a better player. If I find I'm losing to a specific player or strategy, I throw myself into it. That's how you become better.

    Loam pox has to be one of my favourite decks in all of magic. Been experimenting a bit with a version that uses exploration. I think it has the potential to be a real deck, ultra hyped for the vid, liked before even watching. The only considerations i'll add on this is list is cabal pit. That card saved my ass many times for a very small opportunity cost.

    Although the Hammer + Chains lock is a central part of the deck, you could probably cut a hammer or two in favor of other cards, since Hammer on its own is beneficial to your opponents, while Chains on its own is not.
