TIM HAS GREAT BREATH CONTROL. THE AUDIENCE STARTED CLAPPING AND DROWNED OUT THE FACT THAT HE WAS HOLDING ON TO THAT NOTE TO FINISH THE SONG. IT SEEMS THAT THAT IS ONE OF THE THINGS THAT SETS THESE GUYS OFF FROM WHAT WOULD BE AN "ALSO RAN GROUP. I LOVE THE HARMONY HERE. What is really heartening is the obvious camaraderie. No jealousy. Just great pride whenever one of the group is singled out

I love how EVERY time Tim goes to hit a low note he puts his hand out like "hey I am just going to lay this out here." He does that in concert as well and it's pretty darn cool. Not only that......he is YUMMY!!!

It could very well be fine-tuned Relative Pitch. Given the fact that the note was so long, and It was the Tonic note, you could figure it out. If you know by heart any note, you can find any other.

Yeah I laughed at that lol. Though what some people do (what she might have done) was sung their lowest note really quick, known what it was of course, and just counted down from there. Or she could do have been told before hand. Or like you said she has perfect pitch.

She commented on a low note in "Life is a Highway" that she thought was an F# when it was actually an Eb. She might have relative pitch. But she was correct about the F# in this one.

Was so confused why everyone was cheering over a silent moment...turns out the note was too low to hear without headphones O_O

Yes, you can enjoy the bass with good headphones. Ear buds and computer speaker don't do the bass justice.

I love revisiting PTX and HF when they were babies on this show. Their voices have matured beautifully since. And of course this song with Avi in the mix is incredible.

Tim actually has a 5 Octave range which for a true Basso Profundo as He is, is literally Amazing and very rare. The whole group is above the what the normal top grade of talent is, very clever arrangements with loads of natural ability, Home Free is a tough act to come near much less beat.

That moment when you can sing to the big C and sing the whole bassline. And at the end you're going like "the riiing of Frrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr"

i will never get tired of hearing Tim hit that note ( - 0 - 0 - )

Better than what I can do! I'm a soprano so I can't hit anything lie without sounding horribly out of tune!

4:46 - when the fellas on the right just look at each other like "this crowd is NOT ready..."

I love that last note made all 3 judges jump to their feet! Tim seems so humble. Obviously there are very few people who could hit a note like that but he still seems genuinely flattered by their comments.

I have to keep replaying the part where the guys voice goes super deep like, WHAT??!!!!

Man when he hits that note I have to plug in my studio headphones just to hear it because my speakers can't go that low!

Looking at Austin and Rob smile at each other before Tim's final note. They knew the show was about to change.

When Tim went all the up at "like a child", that was a display of his higher range. But when he sang "but the fire went wild" in his mid range, he totally sounded like an old, legendary country singer. I can't remember his name though, but dang that sounded so classically country!

Rob seems like an absolute sweetheart. That charismatic yet low key person that makes every group of people have a nice time when they're in it.

Just noticed the look Austin and Rob share at 4:45. I wonder if that's part of the choreography, or if it's just those guys going, "They're going to *love* what's coming next."

Tim and I used to sing in a church choir together. One night we were out at karaoke and Tim came by and rumbled a low note in my ear. It’s definitely like a seismic event.

I love the look that Austin and Rob share right before Tim hits that super low note. They've got that "Oh, yeah, they don't know what's about to hit them!" look. It's hilarious.

I normally don't listen to anything but rock-n-roll, but, my brother asked me to listen and tell him what I thought of it.......I was blindsided, I couldn't speak for a moment....never thought I would ever hear an acapella group and love it...it's now part of my play list.

Just revisiting some of these old Home Free & Pentatonix performances. I forgot about Tim singing in falsetto for a second. How can the man be such a sublime bass and still hit such a beautiful high note. His voice is INSANE. I still love me some Avi too but damn Tim what a voice 😍

I come back a couple times a year to watch those two groups. And I saw them both in concert years ago. The Sing Off was is the only singing competition show I could tolerate, because they didn’t throw in the stupid “people who can’t sing just because we want to make fun of them”. I miss this show so much, I hope these videos never go away because Pentatonix and Home Free make me so happy

I love Tim's face on that last note. He's like, "yeah, I just did that" hahaha

Ben is my favorite. He gives the best feedback of any of them and no one in the audience has any idea what he's saying.

'Acapella Country Reggae' is a perfect way to describe this group

The lead's voice is smooth like butter. I have the biggest goosebumps. I'm so glad they won.

I ran across Pentatonix and listened to them a couple of times and then just didn't again. Some weeks (or months) later I found Home Free, just scrolling through KZread. I have watched (and listened) to them ever since! They are amazing! (Home Free-Just making sure everyone knows who I'm talking about.) I listen to new ones, and invariably, go back and listen to ones I have already heard numerous times, just because!💜💜💜💜💜

Ben's descriptions of Tim this season were priceless! And reaction from Tim when Ben said it left people saying holy $#%@# what was that was epic! I believe that boy turned a bit red there

Tim turned red when Sean commented about how he makes the bass look easy and even more red when Jewel commented on his dancing "I sing bass and I daaaaaaaaaance!"

Austin and Tim get all the compliments and the others are pretty much ignored most of the time, lol. Its kind of sad though. Adam, especially, deserves more recognition.

I never watched that show at all. I never knew it's how they got started I just heard them one day on you tube sing Mary did you know and said wow i love these guys and never pass up a song still learning so much I hope they never split up. Be like Oakridge boys do this forever and ever. Love them all.

I'm always happy when KZread brings up this performance in my Recommendations - I know it by heart, but still enjoy it every time. For my money, this was the performance that cemented Home Free as the Season 4 favorite, with the contest being theirs to lose. Ben's comments were spot on: with this performance, Tim went from being a supporting singer to a virtuoso, letting the audience know that Home Free is more than just Austin and the Pips. The VP is perfect. You also knew this group was heading to the finals because of Ben's reaction - I don't think he got as excited about another performance all season.

Tim, Avi...they have natural Bass voices. And Contra-bass. Like some men have contra-tenor voices....soprano range. And some women have stellar-high range--- coloratura. This gives Kick-amazing sound-to a song. It comes out and blows you away because you don't expect this earthquake, tidal wave, solar flare, blizzard, tornado. In this case, a wonderful thing.

I know that low note was crazy amazing but that moment at about 4:20 always gets to me. It just makes me smile instantly.

Home Free is like the Pentatonix of season 4.

I love the panel of judges here in Sing Off, they know their stuff very well.

You know you've done well when you can make one of the judges on a show swear on national TV in front of millions of people.

i watched this performance like a hundred times, but every time i heard those low notes it still give me goosebump much respect for people like Tim or Avi with that masive low notes

They were clearly THE WINNERS!

Jewel's pronunciations of certain musical terms (octave, vibrato, etc.) may sound odd to folks with a different preference, but be assured she spoke correctly in every instance. (Consultation with any edition of a Merriam Webster unabridged dictionary resolves the matter in short order.) More importantly, the lovely lady can SING!

These guys are just sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good. They are also so humble....they could go all the way! I love them and that Tim can sing or just speak to me all day every day!

Ok so 8 years later, back in time now. Never heard this before and am I ever thrilled to get to see you guys do this fabulous rendition! John y Cash would love it, imo. :) And you all look mahvelous too, younger yes (hardly recognized one of you :) and fresh and utterly brimming over happy. Bravo!! I remember watching this on TV back in 2013 thinking "Holy shit, that's awesome! I wish I could hit that note! I probably won't ever be able to (my lowest was a struggled E2 at the time), but I can still dream." But then again, I was still 15 at the time and I had only been experiencing a slow voice change throughout my teens, classifying as a sort of "baritenor" at the time. But when I got back in school and was goofing off with some choir friends at our first concert, I sang Ring Of Fire for them and figured "Why not go for the low note?", not having known how much lower my voice had gotten, only to surprise myself and everyone else by nailing his F#1 with ease and making the walls ring with bass. Now I have a fan club of girls that love to hear me sing first octave notes. It's good to be an oktavist.

Still get goosebumps when Tim hits that low note. Never listened to this song before, now I play it in my car all the time. You guys are amazing!

I'm just rewinding over and over on Tim's F#. I need that one note on a continuous loop forever. It gives me shivers every time!

This is the performance that made me fall in love with this group. Love it. I am not really a country fan, but their voices and personalities reach out and grab you.

Of all the performances of the Ring of Fire this is my absolute favorite. The combination of these voices are tops. To this day, April 19 2022, I have not heard it done better than this.

I just got back from seeing them LIVE IN CONCERT (Might I add, it was flippin' FANTASTIC!), and they performed THIS SONG at the very end, and the ground shook when Tim hit the Gb1, and I could feel the vibrations in my chest! It was AAWWEESSOOMMEE!! :D

Wearing headphones on high volume for tims F#1 is a religious experience

Everyone’s favorite part seems to be the low note, and it’s fantastic, but my favorite is definitely the opener. Jewel’s note about is bringing out the poignancy of the song was so insightful and true. Austin’s voice is just magnificent there.

lol, when Tim hit that low note at the end. the motion he did with his hand made me think of Avatar and was waiting for him to firebend. :P Now THAT would have been awesome!
