I’ve had 3M Crystalline on my Model S for nearly 10 years. It looks brand new, my interior is not faded at all, and the heat rejection properties are phenomenal.
Thanks for the insight here. Very concise and easy to understand. Appreciate your video here! You guys are awesome!

Does. 20% and 40% crystalline tint look brown ? Putting it on a Lexus
Hi amazing, Texas's guys. Please help me to choose and maybe cut it out and sale to Philly a piece of film which is works both or even three ways. I am looking for Inrrared protection, saves my vision at nigth time driving, has anti-glare effect and max close to clear windsheld window at the same time. Is it too much from my expectations? Which one has best balance in my reqest? Thanks
how does it enhance night driving? the biggest thing i hate about windshield tints is the tint itself. i can notice it at night even with 70-90 vlt films. sure it slightly cuts glare from headlights, but in the back country it just makes you want to look out the side of the window rolled down to see better when its pitch black

Crystalline is not constructed like typical window film. It is comprised if 250+ layers of optical film. Un-tinted layers that filter certain wavelengths of light that bother most eyesight. It enhances other wavelengths that help the eye to see better. In short it enhances lights at night. This is the main reason the film was invented. It blocking a lot of heat was a secondary objective. A lot of flat screens and mobile devises have this film/tech to help the batteries last longer after a full charge. I have never had a customer complain of this film making it harder to see through at night. They have only said the opposite. The only complaints I get are from people that have ultra sensitive vision. They complain of the light from headlights getting distorted like light flares. But this represents a very very small minority of customers.

@@ItsBinhRepaired did you tint over the existing factory privacy glass? Some shops say they recommend no darker than about 35% over the factory glass which is already 27%. That brings the back windows down to about 15%. Any darker and some drivers have trouble seeing things at night.

@@rkgsdLow angle Haze. Just got my gf’s tint in CR70 WINDSHIELD aka 62% VLT and the rest of the windows with CR20. You can see inside if you walk up and put your face 3 feet within it but for on the road privacy its perfect. Still hasn’t dried yet but so far its heat rejection properties are very noticable and very nice added comfort level when the windshield is done as well.
How does Crystalline compare to Spectra PhotoSync in terms of heat rejection IR
@AutoShieldFtWorthTexas
Жыл бұрын
Crystalline has been heavily developed film and the patented technology is legit and far superior to any other film on the market. It has a little of a checked history because of its original indented use, but has since corrected most of it's short comings and I can personally attest to its heat rejection properties lasting year after year. I've had it on one of my cars for 7 years now. I will quote a very knowledgeable installer..."As far as Photosync goes, there are too many unanswered questions about the film. One problem is the photochromic technology does not last forever. I would say expect 6 months of full change which will reduce by the 1 year mark. Getting closer to the 2 year mark, it will be stuck on one shade. The technology is the same as Transition lenses which has the same issue. Another problem is the lack of testing on the film from an outside company. All major players have the NFRC test their films to ensure the manufacturers numbers are accurate. This helps ensure the films are tested on a level playing field at least as much as possible. Prestige does not do this with their films and even states this on their spec sheets. Some independent people have done testing and feel the numbers don't add up too. The manufacturer approached Huper first to sell/license the technology, but was turned down. So they started Prestige to sell the film. Other downside is it has not been around long enough to say if the film will last period. So not saying it is a bad film, just too many secrets behind it."
I called and literally got talked out of getting the high priced Crystalline by the head installer to just get ceramic!! 🤔🤔🤯🤯😂🤣🤑🤑

Does the company that installs this ceramic have the ability to check what the IR is over time? ie. at year 5 will they check it for you?

this is marketing hype.. he says 'over time' well, how many years is 'over time'? Of course, he was not specific.
@zeroelus

@@hawaiiguy1 Regarding ceramic films and their degradation, I'm not sure it's just marketing speak, as their warranty period probably states as to how they expect it to behave over time. I have 2 cars with a decent ceramic film (llumar airblue 80) one installed 12 years ago, another one some 4 years ago, both all of their lives here in the desert, and the difference in performance between them is now noticible with the aged tint looking just fine but you feel the heat and even a bit more of the UV "burning". Never mind my wife's new car on which I installed 3m crystalline and feels in a different league to the Llumar ones.
If you were to put this over regular tint , would it have the same effect or do you lose the effect because it’s not the outside layer

No one really knows. It will vary from one manufacturer to another. Some of your cheaper films will fail after a couple summers and others like 3M I would expect the IR coating to start breaking down after 4 or 5 years. It is really just a slightly educated guess.

you want a screen protector for your windshield? a film isn't going to stop a rock. it'll crack and then the film will be ragged. in addition to having to be resilient to withstand ALL weather conditions. of course it goes on the inside. you want the optical clarity to remain as high as possible.
