It really sounds like the musical variant of a water fountain or sprinkler. I completely get this comment's statement but it cannot be explained.

In the 3ds version the bricks look like the ones in the original Super Mario Bros. In Mario Kart 8, they’re like an hd All Stars version

I honestly prefer the mk7 version, in the mk7 version of the underground section, it had this really dark atmosphere and the the goombas were dark as well because it was a homage to the underground levels in the Mario bros games but the mk8 version just completely through that out the window. But I will say the underwater section is better in the mk8 version.

3DS Piranha Plant Pipeline in Mario Kart 7 looks like the original Super Mario Bros Underground, the Mario Kart 8 version looks like the New Super Mario Bros Underground

Fun fact: there are more goombas in this track then there are pirahna plants.

That's both simultaneously true and false. In MK8 and MK8DX, there are two Piranha Plants, and 1 Goomba at the very end before the finish line. In MK7, there are more goombas in the underground section

Mario kart 7 walked so 8 could run

The drums at the beginning slap the hardest.

I love that they are still making tracks out of classic elements like just the Underground levels from SMB. The music isn't stranger to that either. So awesome!

Honestly the enhanced this song very well, this blows the original out of the water by a fair margin. All it needed was real instruments. Also that beat at 1:02 never gets old.

Mario Kart 7 had so many exciting tracks, I wish they brought more back, but at least they brought the best one back, none other than Piranha Plant Slide!

0:58 the underground theme is the best

The best Retro cup in this game is definitely Lighting. Brought back some of the best courses and did justice to them by making their remakes amazing!

I love this track it was my favorite in mk7 and now it is even better and is still one of my favorites

Mario kart 8 does a great job at remixing very classic themes, like underground theme and classic mk theme

Always gonna be my favourite Mario Kart track (no pun intended)

It's honestly really funny to me how this was, at first, one of my most hated tracks in the game. Now, it's legitimately within my top 5. I love how the classic Underground theme is worked in, and I love the way the water carries you faster down the track. Fun Fact: In Europe, it's called Piranha Plant Pipeway. I would know, I'm European myself, and they likely changed it because "slide" wouldn't portray it in the same way in Europe than in America. So, if you ever wonder why a name was changed across regions, this is likely it!

I like (very) much this music

This song hits way better than 7's original rendition for me. Piranha Plant Pipeway in 7 was suffocated by the piano and bass and only really got good in the short underwater section when the bass wasn't actually drowning the actual tune ironically enough. 8 Takes 7 original track and made the tune much more recognizable and overall more enjoyable. Also the transition into the loop is better imo, with the hard hitting drumbeats as well as the trumpets playing into it, which makes it so, so smooth.

Excuse my French, but Slide? SLIDE!!? It’s a Pipeway and you will not change my mind. Also, that wasn’t French.

It's Pipeway in the PAL version, which it seems is the one you own. for people living in America and Canada, it's Slide. So, In a way, you're right... but also wrong.

Z Rowan it’s just a case of the channel choosing between the American and European name, Piranha Plant Pipeway being the European name. they don’t actually have different names between the frontrunning and regular one
