Ciao Nikita, good video as always. But for what I know, there are no good points anymore to use irradiance map with vray 5(chaosgroup itself stated it). true that gives less noise and the renderer time itself for the final computation is less. But this can be usefull just if you won't use vray denoiser. If you add the time computation for the irradiance map + the final image time, you will see that with bruteforce, the timing will be almost the same, but with better quality (sometimes for a scene with a lot of refractive/reflective materials it takes more time with IM than BF). IM is not even optimized in vray5. With bruteforce, I just suggest to raise the light cache to 2000 for final image. it won't affect the render time so much, just the light cache computation at the beginning, but gives less noise after.

Ciao Davide! Agh I've been to Italy many years back and loved it. Good memories..So, as I have mentioned, I know V-Ray only for experience and experimentation, and to be honest when I render with Irradiance map, my renders seem much less noisy compared to Brute Force. But maybe I'm biased because I always used IM. In V-Ray 5 I have switched to Brute Force, and that's what I also suggest to everyone, since I want to use VRayLightMix. Now, whether I set 1K or 2K to Light Cache the result looks the same to my eye! But I trust you, so I'll pin your comment, so that our fellow artists can see and follow your advice.

@@margaritanikita do bf make render slow ...
Thank you soooo much for your thorough, and cogent explanations, of not only, how a thing should happen, but why it is important it happens the way it does. Anyone can make and convey a list of steps, to achieve a desired outcome, but is it the rare educator indeed, who takes the time to add the special ingredients that truly makes a subject understandable. You dug deeper than just telling us to "click, click, click", and took a well worn subject, I thought I already understood, and made things clear, where there was no clarity, before. Thank you again, for taking the time to care. My best to you, Billy C.

Hi! Thx for the sum up, one quick thing for people watching : end of the video you say the brute force is "locked" on 3 bounces, if I'm right it is not locked but unused, as it activates only when BF is used as secondary engine. Good day everyone
