Captain Quasar is actually a very difficult game, and very few videos exist. There is a map, rockets and grenades by pressing the other 3D0 controller keys, so you can blow down walls and move quickly. The map to level 1 is huge, and contains two separate bases which you have to storm, which can only be found by visiting the tourist booths and writing down two halfs of a password. There are some extra lives in the desert but even if you have the lives, and memorise the level and the bases, you still have to stop the rockets from taking off by using the rockets and grenades on them. If you let x3 rockets escape, then it's game over, and they take off as soon as you discover them. It would make a great AVGN episode. I have huge respect for the game but I never beat level 1.

Space Hulk is tactical game based on a board game with same name. On each mission you control a squad of terminators spawned on one or two starting points, your enemy is a tyranid genestealers(aliens) that endlessly spawns from marked entry zones. You can switch between tactical and strategy modes, in tactical mode you control 1 individual terminator like in fps, in strategy mode you can see map with current positions of squad members and enemies, and give orders for remaining terminators. Also you have "Freeze" button to stop time in game and change your orders and secondary monitor that show the views of other terminators and allow you to swap control between them. To win this game, you must place terminators in right spots. Terminators with long range weapons automatically firing at enemies that come into their way (overwatch mode), weapons have ulimited ammo, but can jam for a few second after sustained fire, leaving terminators vulnerable. Btw in the campaign, terminators who survive a mission gain experience, improving their abilities and in some missions you can customise weapons, for example you can take a heavy flamer instead of basic bolter weapon. I played it on ps1 and at the time i thought that it's a great game).

Road Rash is awesome on the 3DO. It still holds up very well too. Some other games I'd recommend on the 3DO: Cannon Fodder (Very much like the PC version, but the animated intro and theme music is pretty amazing. Sensible Software obviously had a blast making it!), GEX (this is the first console release for it), Wolfenstein 3D, Daedalus Encounter, Super Street Fighter II Turbo (excellent playing game, but you kind of need to get used to the limited buttons, get an Avenue/Capcom 6 button controller, or use a SNES to 3DO adapter. The 3DO is another one of those systems that's truly appreciated in its original time. It's the missing link between the Philips CD-i and the PlayStation (for me). I didn't get one until after the PSX.

I was born at the tail end of the 80s (my sister is your age). Your singing just unlocked some latent hidden away memories of things from my childhood, lol. Also, I've played most 3DO games and Shockwave 2 is extremely underrated, a different game from the first one and MUCH better. But it's mission based, meaning you have to pay a bit of attention and read a little bit which I know you have historically had trouble doing. It's very similar to Desert Strike in that regard. There's also a lot of campy FMV cutscenes which I personally like, not sure if that's your thing. I like Sewer Shark/Shitshark for the same reason, it's easy if you know what to do and it has those campy 80's cutscenes (it was filmed in 1987.)

I remember SPACE HULK quite a little different from this version. It´s basically a tactical game where you set up your team first in a planning stage to secure a perimeter and then take control of one space marine at a time while the other guys are computercontrolled. So it is much easier to have each others back and not get overwhelmed or sneaked up from behind. Talk about Uranus ...

Space Hulk can be a very fun game and it's definitely possible to succeed in it, but it's not a casual pick up and play at all in my opinion. You wanna do the tutorials and you'll spend a lot of time on the map moving your Terminators as well as fighting in game. You want to set up choke points with your squad so you can't be flanked and cornered. You'll often find yourself having squad members hold down a corridor or two while everyone else moves forward to complete the objective. I had a lot of fun with it on PS1 as a kid

Mike did more coke than usual right before this stream lol
What a crazy set of games
As someone on Reddit put it - "The conception, execution and failure of the 3DO is such an interesting story. Those live action games are an interesting form of terrible."
The songs at 3:24:13 are catchy and is now stuck in memory
Your streams when you wear the magic hat and sing are tops
Love the 3do stream and all the quality content you bring us Mike.
The 3DO had like 5 good games.
Space Hulk is known for being one of the hardest games ever made. I couldn't get through the demo.
This stream is Mike's magnum O piss
Total Eclipse was an awesome 3do game, as I recall
Come on Mike, you need a little more fadeout ending in tunes these days. There's very few in this music industry today. Keep up the good work man, you're entertaining in the raging games dept. I've been there! lol.
How does armless mike play video games?
Seal of the pharaoh is incredible!
I always appreciate how you show us the very best and the very worst in the gaming world and are not afraid to laugh at the sillier gaming offerings.

I prefer to look at everything. Good bad and sometimes mediocre (like that new tmnt roguelike game)
Mike Matei 80's sitcoms karaoke stream
Really enjoying these 3do videos it’s such a strange system.
Mike needs to experience Duelin’ Firemen on the 3DO.
I've had the entire 3DO collection on my pc and emulation stations for ages...and I have never even opened up the emulator. I might check a few out.
The horde is really fun.and killing time is the first person shooter you want to play on 3d0.
Ambitious but... ahhh lol. Garbage, I couldn't imagine coming home excited to play this like I was for SimCity on SNES.
I love getting high and watch Mike play retro games.
Elvis rules!
Glad to see a look into the 3DO library. A friend of mine actually had this system but I only ever saw a handful of titles. Road Rash was the only game I remember enjoying. I thought the FMV stuff was so cool at the time, now I can't stand cutscenes in most games.
That Shelley Duvall game.. Somebody needs to make a Mike version, lol.
Man, 3DO has some psychedelic games. They look like “LSD” (PS1) spin offs. PO’ed and Ciberdillo (and basically most of the library)are probably amazing if you play ‘em under the influence of drugs (not that anyone should do drugs…remember “Winners don’t do drugs”)
Mike is fucking hilarious.
I had rebel forces on pc, was awesome to see you revisit it, there was rebel forces I and II. The other one from what you played in this was similar, but more difficult, and had third person scenario type shooting too.
I'm playing the newer Space Hulk on steam while Mike rages at the old one...which I had in the 90s its so hard.
This is awesome! Thanks for sharing Mike!
This is my favorite stream of yours Mike. I love the ending with Shelly, and the songs you play and sing.
lmao my boy look like he about to go ballistic
I'd really dig seeing you go through Space Hulk and other Warhammer 40k content in general. I think the whole franchise is horribly fascinating at the very least, and perfectly ripe for mockery.
I can’t even imagine how disappointing it would have been to pay $700 for the console and another $60 for a game, and this is what you got. I remember seeing commercials for the 3DO and begging my parents to get it. Thank God they had sense enough to say no.
Haha im watching this and im late 40s. I still talk about My Two Dads and the Hogan Family and get blank stares. Mr Belvedere theme song was the best though.
I’m excited to see the full stream of PO’ed lol
“Easy come, easy go!!”
29 min mark had me 💀I’m 44 Mike I understand 😂🙌🏻
MAZER streamer. Fuck yeah. I wanna go to that party for sure.
Mike, I'm sorry no one knows Silver Spoons, but those are just the facts of life. There's bound to be some growing pains when perfect strangers are born into another world. It's no small wonder that different strokes aren't for all in the family, but as days go by you might find your dynasty.

I pretty much always use real consoles. If I dont, I say. Like sometimes have have used mame and whatnot but typically its a real system.
Top notch stream Mike. a lot of these games you played were reviewed by James in his 3DO review, we saw a lot of interesting and awkward things in this one, that Shelley Duval bird game was honestly one of the creepiest things i've seen in my entire life.

I have that on my emulator and I noticed it too. It's just old pc strip poker with still images...no video.
Dr. Hauzer looks a lot like the original Alone in the Dark trilogy. Even more so than Resident Evil did.
the King's tune & Three's Company jam make this by themselves... saw some vod where Lucille Ball presents Three's Company highlights - priceless. agree with the strong finish, but am still waiting for the Dream Phone physical copy before i take your musical recos seriously.
I had no idea there was so much FMV on the 3do.
Space Hulk is in the Warhammer universe. It’s a strategy tactical fps and the mode you were playing it on was survive for the duration of the time limit.
41:00 😂 I was sitting here waiting for Mike to notice this scene 😂😂😂
You were playing the demo version of the Sailor Moon game, maybe that's why you couldn't choose which options you wanted.
I'm really enjoying my 3do now that I got one
