I need help with "wooden puzzle cube H and T"

I managed to solve a 3D cube exactly like this, only difference was that it had 24white pieces and 30black ones for some reason, funny thing is that i solved it by standing the pieces in all kinds of directions(using all the pieces ofc), so it is possible, but i thought that it had to be a more logical solution, and just by watching you do the first layer i felt stupid for making it harder for myself than it had to be...x)

Same as mine, 30 pieces are black and 24 others are white. Just bought it for my boy, and there is no clue or instruction at the box. Trying make the same pattern as its picture in the box very confusing. Your video is very helpfull, thank you
