3D Solid Geometric Nonlinearity using Ogden Hyperelastic Abaqus UMAT Subroutine.
A regularized Ogden material model is developed using Abaqus UMAT. The strain energy function is expressed in terms of principal stretches. The UMAT subroutine is written in Fortran.
The Ogden model provides better accuracy at much larger strains (up to about 700%) than say the Neo-Hookean model. The model is used to describe nonlinear elastic behavior of complex materials such as rubbers, polymers and biological tissues.
An indentation and sliding contact problem of a sphere on a hyperelastic Ogden block is illustrated. Abaqus general contact is used. The hybrid element C3D8H is used.
Note: the strain energy function of the Ogden model in this video is based on that described in:

    0:17 s : in first equation, there may NOT be bar in lambda 1-3 terms. Is this a typo?

    Yes, good catch, it is a typo on the slide - no bars on lambda's 1 through 3. The Ogden model implemented is the one described in the "Computational Methods for Plasticity" book by Eduardo de Souza Neto, et al. and the Kirchhoff principal stress is given by Eq. 13.54.

    i wrote subroutine for neo hookean material, by two method. first by describing each element of stress and stiffness explicitly and in second by indicial notation. first method is giving solution but the second method is giving zero component to stress and stiffness. why is that happening? please reply.

    For a given formulation, all approaches should yield the same results.
