    Love it, yeah AA settings are a bit of hit or miss, and the chatter online is a bit off too. My current settings are sticking with the Smooth Surfaces, 50% offset, and 2 px radius. Works great now, barely see layer lines if at all.

    Very helpful information! Thank you! 1. What kind of anti-aliasing would you recommend for gaming miniatures? 2. Finally, how would you compare AA in Lychee to Chitubox?

  • @IPrint3dMinis

    @IPrint3dMinis

    I will do some compare with Chitu soon, I am working on some videos for Chitubox content as well and I will explain my thoughts on that when I do some more research personally as I use Lychee a lot more than Chitu. As far as AA for minis, like 32-55 mm I would recommend Sharpen Details, 20-30% grey offset, this will allow them to look sharp, and it should remove layer lines mostly or partially on flat areas or larger surface areas. If they are 75mm I would go to Smooth Surfaces, 2px radius 30% grey. I use that setting for my 75mm - 120mm stuff. Anything bigger than that go with Smooth Surfaces 1-2 px radius (depends on layer height) and 30-50% grey. Don't worry about detail loss, it will look really nice at that level, but this would be fo BIG objects like anything over 120mm.

    Hey mate. When you mention not applying anti-aliasing to supports, does this mean that if I'm using a pre-supported .stl file, applying anti-aliasing to it WILL be applying it to the supports too? So essentially I'd have to use .lys pre-supported files to get around this?

  • @IPrint3dMinis

    @IPrint3dMinis

    6 ай бұрын

    Yes, if it is an STL and you use AA settings it technically will apply that to the STL and the supports. Using pre-supported STLs is usually a bad idea, we hate making them, but a lot of folks want them. We always provide LYS and STL files for this reason.

    Thanks for that explanation, really helpful. Hope you don't mind me asking a question. I can see you print in a similar way as I do. What I have problem with the bottom flat surfaces when the plugs are. Like those legs in this video. In my case they are always deformed and look like a bar of soap. Do you have any suggestions how to minimize it? Thanks

  • @IPrint3dMinis

    @IPrint3dMinis

    No worries, it might be that the orientation is leading to warping issues. If the item is supposed to be square, make sure it starts at a corner, if it's cylindrical make sure and mimic the shape in supports or part of it will be pulling in different directions and cause warping. I hope that helps.

    Good video! Only two things I would change: voice audio was a bit too quiet, and more importantly - gif is not a brand of peanut butter, don't be a communist, give it a hard 'g'. I look forward to watching the comparison video.

    Ha ha the GIF JIF argument is classic. I am not trying to be a communist. Why is it that big of an issue to use the soft G anyway, it is used with other words. I don't get it. Anyway the follow-ups are done, I have covered the AA settings a few times, but most recent videos this year I showed the end results. Also I have a new mic since this vid, so my audio is massively improved, and I removed the music.

    To everyone with the "JIF" comment. Please read up on the actual facts folks. It's how you are supposed to say it. Steve Wilhite releases the Graphics Interchange Format, or GIF, while working for Compuserve. He called it a GIF with a soft g. “Choosy developers,“ he reportedly said, “choose JIF.” This was of course a play on the peanut butter brand Jif's line “choosy mothers choose Jif.” It was literally a play on the PB branding, and is pronounced with a soft "G" sorry folks.

    You’re of course right about the history, but I wouldn’t dig in too hard. Hard G is the much more common/accepted pronunciation. It’s also more correct when analyzed from a linguistics perspective. Sticking to the soft G on the “word of god” logic is a bit silly in 2024.

  • @IPrint3dMinis

    @IPrint3dMinis

    2 ай бұрын

    @@TriforceLegend64 I guess, but who cares how you really say it. For years i said "GIF" hard G, and then I was educated by a boss I had when I did IT, and he said it was "GIF" with the soft G sound or a J like sound, which is still correct, as the soft G is acceptable in the English language. Linguistics would say a soft G is fine, as in words like Gym, Georgia, George, Geode, and others, so I don't try and DIG too hard, but when I get comments saying they stopped watching after hearing I pronounce a word "correctly" it bothers me a bit. It's not the word of God, it's just facts. GIF is pronounced "J I F" whether or not it is the accepted way of saying or not is actually irrelevant. Again you wanna say it one way or the other fine, but to judge me on it...okay I guess. Gotta love the internet.

    @@LakusPakus Apparently it was a bigger deal than I first thought. What language? Just curious. This conversion about GIF Vs. JIF honestly was not really the point of the video, and I am sorry that I even said the word now. This was published 10 months ago, and I still get comments about the GIF/JIF thing. So, crazy how much people take stake in something that doesn't really matter that much. I think I lost a sub or two due to this, and honestly if you are here for the way I speak...I figured folks come for the content not my style of speech.

    @@IPrint3dMinis nah you’re good it’s just that the GIF/JIF debate is never ending. Pretty much a meme at this point. In Norwegian there’s no word that gives G any other sound than the hard one and the word for graphics is “grafikk”. This places us firmly on the side of GIF in the forever-war. Which means everyone else are wrong.

    Doubt it mate, have done like 7 videos on this topic, and it is still the most elusive setting in the application. Do you fully understand how it works on all printers and resin types? Cause we are still figuring it out, that's what the videos are for.
