    @@chrisbogan6519 How was it not an improvement? The original version didn't work, it was too weak to hold the rodent in place. I understand you didn't like seeing the animal killed but regardless of personal feelings it was 100% an improvement. The only other possible thing that you could probably make the guillotine stronger to hold the creature in place as a possibly live catch alternative, but between the pressure and tiring themselves out trying to escape it'd likely be pretty fatal in itself and if not dead a whole lot more traumatic for the animal.

    mreid08 I think it's because real animals are dying. I see them as pests but some don't. They believe, pest or not, those rodents deserve to live. Others are afraid that seeing real death is somehow harmful to the mind of the viewer. I certainly don't want to show a screaming squirrel in a trap to my three year old niece. Both points are weak but valid. I think there ought to a way to add a filter to KZread so you can set an account to G, PG, PG-13 and R. Just like the movies. Make this stuff PG or PG-13.

    That looks like an effective trap with potential. The body can be made from a PVC tube, with light holes in the far end . The flat components can be made by heating and flattening sections of thin wall PVC or other plastic, or this rare substance called steel. I would add a lanyard of small chain.

    Shawn, perhaps you can obtain some sort of gauge to measure the spring tension of traps (something similar to trigger pull gauge for guns, maybe) so that some obviously too weak traps you won't have to make the animals suffer and you can keep mostly instant kill traps on your main page. The same pull gauge can be used with the finger puppet mouse if you can pull it out without much resistance the trap is considered useless.

    Moving the pivot point for the noose towards the front would increase the leverage on the choker. Allso instead of having the nails point at a angel bending them so they pointed straight down would be be probably more efficient. Also adding a couple more and shortening them would also increase the kill factor.

    To make the original version better, I have two suggestions: 1- Either make the length of tube, longer so rat is fully inside the trap, before trigger activates. 2- Add the 2 nails to 2 and 10 o'clock position of the moving circular door, instead of fix location behind that. So it won't discourage the rat to enter, being wide open, then the momentum of moving door, make a better body piece and possibly a faster, smoother kill.

    I was gonna suggest some kind of locking mechanism live two levers on the outside of the choker ring that have tension pulling them together. Thid way, as yhe ring gets higher the top of each lever slide further underneath not allowing it to move back down. Essentially a ratcheting system. But two nails is much simpler and effective enough for a squirrel

    I'd like to see how effectively these traps can get rid of these vermins but not how it can actually toture poor animals. The lesson learnt here is to avoid using barbs when making a trap.

    This trap is a great proof of concept/prototype but If it was made with metal pipe welded to a metal platformthat could be screwed or nailed to the floor it would probably work without the spikes. a noose is probably also more effective than a plastic disc like that. Great job Markus get in touch if you want to share ideas I speak swedish.

    Rather than spikes I would suggest adding ratchet teeth on each side of the snare and spring loaded pawls in the sides of the slot the snare moves in. Once the snare snaps closed the animal cannot open it to pull himself free.

    Can you design a trap that sucks in the mouse, throws it into a shredder and collects all the goo in a big jar?

    Do you think just adding more rubber bands for more power or twisting the rubber bands for more power would allow the trap to kill more effectively without the nails?

  • @craigstewart6194
    @craigstewart61946 жыл бұрын

    The spikes were a good idea, but you probably could have just added a couple of bands to tighten the noose a little more. And that should have kept it from getting loose.
