Take a journey with me with LightBurn 3D Slice mode as I test aluminum, brass, and steel to find the optimal beginning setting for 3D laser engraving. We will find a fast and high quality setting for most images and uses. Download a Free 3d grayscale image and get a discount on coins!
We will take a look at some science, math, and real world testing to optomize our time and results. It's a long one, but worth it in my opinion. :)

I watched about 50 reseller videos with zero actual information, thank you for making a video that really digs into the nuts and bolts of it. I'm about to engrave my first brass coins and I've been scouring the web for resources that will help get me on track quicker. I just bought my first laser engraver (60 JPT MOPA) two weeks ago and there is so much to learn, having videos like this really help get your head around some of the fundamentals of how this works!

  • @LSEngraving

@@redbeard680 using max q pulse will get max peak pulse power output, provided you are at max output frequency. so i run max q pulse and dial power back with the frequency, on the 120w 60f is the max output frequency (120w/1.5mj = 60) so i run about 80 freq to get close to max power and a smoother output

Hey Tony, let's start from top, the output beam diameter at lens is 7 +-0.5 for all JPT MOPA, focal length is the number after f= written on your lens, wavelength is 1064 for all faser laser, and the beam quality M2 depends on the model you have, the JPT 20W and 30W MOPA have 1.3, the 60W exist in two versions: the E (Economic) has 1.5, and the full version has 1.4, for the 80W exists in two versions too: the E has 1.6 and the full has 1.4
