Another tip that I don't see covered anywhere is to make sure your controller mic is set to mute if you want the full trigger effect. Having the mic on automatically sets the haptics to standard as opposed to the strong setting.

Something to note is you can also set your profile to turn the controller mic off by default every time you log in.

Glad you mentioned those dust ports! I had no idea those existed, so mine probably need a little tidying up by now.

You never mentioned controlling when your console takes screenshots and video when popping trophies. Go to Settings > Captures and Broadcasts > Auto-Captures > Trophies, then you can set what trophy types take screenshots and video, along with the video length. I personally have it set to take screen caps for silver and higher and video for gold and higher. It’s a must have setting to save ssd space from every bronze trophy you’ll get.

What I love about the PS5. As soon as you cut it on. Select your profile it gives you the option before even signing in if you want to go offline.

17:44 if you happen to have TWO PS5s this also allows you to play together in multiplayer - with one game license. THATs something few people know! Even better - if it happens to be a cross-gen PS4/PS5 game, and you have 2 PS4s (or a ps4 and a psPro) - you can have 4 players playing together on a single license (depending on the game - not all games will work depending on how they set up licenses)!

Well done Rob, v useful tips! I have to say, I've been impressed since day 1 with the PS5 (was lucky enough to get it on launch day) and how much of an improvement it is over the PS4 and it's interesting design. I also like that you can change the side panels, got purple ones on at the mo, looks v cool and soon PSVR2 will arrive and that looks really amazing. Good time to be a gamer.

Got my PS5 for Xmas. I had learned about half this list (like downloading in rest mode) just from going through the menus and tinkering. A few options I’d seen, but didn’t really know how they could be useful, like remote play on a PC. After watching this, I’ll be more likely to look into that option. There were about 6 other features on this listing I didn’t know about at all. One feature I haven’t been able to figure out is a method to directly connect my PS5 and PS4 (via USB or LAN cable) to transfer PS4 game data. Having to transfer this data via a separate HDD a couple hundred gigs at a time is so unnecessarily complicated and tedious. I have a 5TB external HD, but I couldn’t use it as extended storage because I’d have to format the whole drive instead of being able to create and allocate a partition specifically for PS games and data. I already have over 1TB of other data on the drive and nowhere else to put it right now. I was able to use the backup and restore option to save a copy of the games on my PS5 onto the 5TB drive, then delete them and download more games. I found an old 640GB HDD and wiped the OS off it, then I formatted it for external storage. This let me move about 300GB of PS4 games onto the extended storage, then over to the PS4. Once the games were copied, I would do the restore option to get another set of games on the PS5 that had previously been deleted. I had to do this 4 times over about 12 hours to get my games sorted out so I have some spare space on my PS5 to fit new games without having to delete something else. 😢

The mute button on the controller itself is my favorite PS5 feature. Some headsets don't have a mute button, and even the ones that do require you to take your hand off the controller to press it, so I am constantly using it

I've had my PS5 for over a year now and I set it up so my controls are inverted and the captions are on from day one. I've still had to do it manually for every game I play. Maybe it only works on PS5 games and I didn't notice. I've mostly been playing PS4 games from Essential and Extra. I didn't know about the vacuum ports. Great tip!

2 more tips 1. If audio isn't working in game or on the store, press playstation button to bring up control panel go to audio settings and check in there. I spent a hour trying to figure out why audio on the store wasn't working. 2. You can add and remove control panel settings in this menu also.

I use these a lot, but in need of a cleaning and vacuuming of the inside. The voice feature acts frequently inside parties when I dont want it to though

The system update in rest mode always happens but keeping my games up to date does not happen all the time some of the games I play gets updated and rest mode and some does not get updated until I turn my console on very irritating especially when it's one of the games I play a lot and I have to wait for an update it's a broken feature and has been since PS4 All games do not update in rest mode

You should make a tip about how hooking up your psvr1 to ps5, and different ps4 accessoires to the ps5 like different Hori controllers.

#8 Voice Command? This is the one I WANT to use but it's not an option? My settings menu _DOES NOT HAVE_ the Voice command option tab. In your demo, it's _BETWEEN_ 'Saved Data' and 'Notifications'. On my PS5, it's not there AT ALL, and my list goes "Saved Data" and then "Notifications". Why don't I have that as an option on my PS5? I used it on my PS4 all the time and I miss it....☹

Thats odd, under my settings the voice command isn't an option. Any ideas?

I wanted to love the Remote Play feature, but unfortunately there is not insignificant input lag when using it, even if both my console and laptop are connected to the same wifi, with decent speed.

If you can, setup one or the other on a wired connection. This will not only increase connection speed for the wired system but also reduce wireless interference and bandwidth usage

I got my SSD up and running just yesterday. The extra leg room has been a relief. Also, I use my PS4 games with a dualshock 4 since I want to save battery on the duelsense.

I always have auto updates on but it never works. Turn the PlayStation on and there’s an update

the HDMI link anmnoys me. When I have it active, and turn on my tv, the playsration turns on automatically. I dont exactly only use my tv for playing on ps5. XBOX gets this right,, the console auto turns on the tv but not the other way around. I really hope Sony fixes this but I havent heard many people complain about it
