I didn't kill the longboard yet. I actually pulled it out the other day and used it for something else where it was the best tool for the job. But that was a 5 minute job and not a 5 hour endeavor. I'm sure it will rear its ugly head at some point. Till then, I'm gonna be mad at it.

I remember the pencil mark and long board phase of my build. Lots of work but the long board won't shock you. I'm now on orbital # 4 with my build. They just don't last. Your boat's looking good!

It’s coming along. All things being equal, I’ll take the shocking. For now. Hopefully the worst part is behind me and we can use the lessons learned moving forward. Appreciate it.

Looking good! I had to hit the pause button until it cools down some. We're seeing highs in the range of 108 to 111 here in the DFW area. My garage gets even hotter on those days due to radiant heat. You definitely have a good setup there for working in hot weather. Because of the hot weather, I ended up with some orange peel on the back section of my boat when I painted the float pods. Sanding out and repainting did not help as it was just too hot to paint. I saw a few videos of guys using denim pads especially made for that purpose to smooth out orange peel using polishing compound. Of course, they were painting cars and trucks using automotive paint. I'm not sure it would work with the finish I went with. I might give that a try when it cools off some.

It is blistering hot for certain. Thankfully I am able to break the task at hand into smaller episodes. My texture issue really wasn't orange peel I don't think, it was more just texture or something. But the last round of glaze coat has it where I want it. Now to just finish the guide strakes, the bow eye, and get primer on.

@@Bigeaux20 I’m just glad you moved to an electric sander. Just a tip going forward, but your hatches with drains. Don’t bother making them it’s a pretty arduous task and the molded ones just epoxy in and glass over and they’re done. You already did a great job glassing your hull so you’ll do well on the topside. All the little corners and edges do suck though.

I may do something crazier and actually build molds for my drains and make my own. I’m torn on this right now, but I sway back and forth from molding them, or making them from wood. I’m pretty good with wood working. Get it painted and on the trailer is the goal right now. I’ll worry about hatches when I get closer.

Looks amazing. Great work. I’ve been adding the outer sheer/spray rail and it is so hot that I barely have any working time w the epoxy. Have to work in small batches.

I had my first bout with epoxy and glass yesterday for the first time in months, and it kicked pretty fast for certain. An idea is to bring your jugs inside and let them at least get int he 70's if you can before using them. It's still going to happen fast, but at least it buys you a little more time. Also heard of putting the jugs in an ice chest. I'm worried it's too hot to paint.

One tip I have gotten is to paint as the air is cooling to prevent bubbles. I'm starting to really look into alternative options if they are available to me.
