Those old buses may have been polluters of the atmosphere, but they were well loved and much used by the travelling public. Just hearing them brings back so many memories. Thanks Alan.

They remind me of a time when life was very different, as a child one didn’t have the worries of later years. It is the sound of their engines that get me going, love em.

Afternoon Steve, very blustery where I am. It was a great day out, if it’s on this year and I’m available, I would try and get a few rides in, it was so busy with constant queues, not something I’m keen on. Glad you enjoyed watching, all the best 🥂

Oh Lordy Alan watching those buses took me back, the PD! Atlantean and the RE was lovely to remember but they never had power steering, my 8 years as a driver was one of the happiest times of my life. I was the Second Lady driver in Essex at that time. Lovely memories. Have great week 😊

Thanks Martin, these sort of events always seem to be well organised. There’s a transport museum in Lincoln, which has a number of buses and they have occasional running days, I visited the museum years ago but haven’t travelled on any. Interesting to know about your father.

Another wonderful day out! Those busses are quite a curiosity for this American. Double-deckers may be found at the two US Disney parks, but despite many visits, never have I yet ridden in one. Really do enjoy these vlogs😄

Great vlog Alan, brought back loads of memories. The Midland Red 159 service was Birmingham to Coventry return and ran every half hour through the village I was born in. Shame there were no Devon Generals or Royal Blue - bit far to travel I expect!!

Thank you so much Bill, glad you enjoyed it. I’m not aware of the East Midlands bus routes but we all remember the buses we used in our youth. I was a member of the Devon General Society for a while, more armchair than anything but I do remember doing some work on a bus.

I’ve always liked Rover type of tickets, especially those that include train travel. So much easier to pay on buses now, just zap your debit or other card and that’s it. Fares are standardised in London, not that I know much about it. Cheers

👍 I know you do your research so you may be aware of these ideas for future videos; Rushden Historic Transport Museum (trains and buses), Sywell Aviation museum, Hollowell Steam Rally and the National Trust houses at Lyvden. All probably less than 45 minutes from you.

Hi Jon, thanks for your comment and suggestions. I’ve been to Rushden and Lyvden both years ago. My difficulty is that the heritage videos are not so popular and yet more time and effort goes into these, so I’m in a bit of a quandary. I will though still be doing the heritage videos. Hollowell is very appealing but I might be cruising when that’s on. Cheers
