When they both whistle to each other, kinda reminds of when in 2005, for the 150th Anniversary of NSWGR, Loco 1709, 1210, 2705, 3526, 3801 did same thing as this

Late comment but the whistle back and forth was because the owner of picnic train was the driver on 01

I just wish they would run her without the diesel's always pushing her along. It's not nice to see and wrong.

THANK YOU! I am a massive train fan I know everything about Australian trains. And I know for a fact 3801 doesn’t need help from diesels her boiler psi is 250, come on she’s powerful enough

While she is completely capable of pulling a train herself, reason why there's always a diesel partnered with her is to provide a backup mode of power incase if something was to go wrong.

By having helper diesel it reduces pressure on the main wheel bearings. Leads to longer engine life.

There is a lever they pull to give one loco permison pretty much so the front loco can have control over the breaks i believe

She currently is sitting at the rail museum, she needs a full new boiler but other than that she’s fine.

@@NotWessyRBLX Most likely not. 3830 will need a lot of work in order to be fully operational. Not to mention, 3830 is still owned by the Powerhouse Museum (meaning THNSW can't really do much) whereas 3801 is owned by the NSW Rail Museum/Transport Heritage NSW.
