Evening Steve, quite a cosy sort of property, NT call it intimate. Certainly would have been more rural and no canal in the early 1700s. All the best, thanks for watching 🥂

Hi Alan and Sally. That sparked a memory from 26 years ago, for me. As an Assistant Divisional Officer in the Operations Dept at West Yorkshire Fire Service, I was tasked with producing an Operational Fire Plan. This would be used in case of a fire occurring in the hall or great barn. It listed all the water mains available, plus pumping areas by the pond. I also listed all the valuable items that could be salvaged during and after a Fire. Anything that could be lifted and carried into the great barn. I know the most valuable items in that house, but can't disclose what these are, for obvious reasons. Interestingly, you picked up on the fact that none of the items within the house, other than the corn store, are actually original to the house. They are all brought in to try to and match the time period of different rooms. The structure of the house is really quite good. Even the semi derelict walls in the wing. The Great Barn is, in itself a good example of the method of roof trussing. The roof is very large for a barn. Thank you Alan for a very informative tour of East Riddlesden Hall.

That's very kind of you to say Roger, thank you so much. Unfortunately, this sort of video is not as popular as cruising videos, so gets less viewers but is more complex and time consuming to make because of the research, narration and editing involved. I will though continue to publish a mix of heritage videos of all sorts, so please keep an eye out, I'm sure you'll find something of interest. All the best.

We really enjoy these videos. Interesting that back in my husband's family tree there is a Bacon family (who married a Rice - so that's kind of funny) but I it is not the same Bacon family. Our Bacon family were - at least in the 19th and early 20th century silk weavers who actually came to the States to help with the weaving industry here. Interestingly - they ended up coming to a part of the country not far from at all where we live now.
