37 Important Idioms in English and Examples
In this video, we will give you a detailed view of Idioms. An idiom is a common word or phrase with a culturally understood meaning that differs from its composite words denotations would suggest i.e the words together have a meaning that is different from the dictionary definitions of the individual words. An idiom is a speech form of an expression of a given language that is peculiar to itself grammatically or can not be understood from the individual meanings of its elements.
The thing to be noticed is that the idioms should not be confused with other figures of speech such as metaphors, which evoke an image by use of implicit comparisons. An idiom is known as a group of words that are used as a common expression whose meaning is not deducible from that of the literal words.

meaning: A good thing that initially seemed bad.

meaning: Something that is very common not unique

meaning: To make a made situation even worse
