Ooh! Love the double-sided hearts-they have so much dimension. When I do sand, I do a thin layer of resin, let it set up a bit, then do a sand/resin paste. I raise the molds _slightly_ so the sand gathers at the bottom and let _that_ set up slightly. Then I add the rest of the resin and inclusions. Also, I use 4-hour cure resin because 1) I’m impatient and 2) I need to know right away if my experiment is a Fail, so I have time for a do-over.

I use UV resin because I’m very impatient 😂 I have this same exact heart mold, never thought to do the double sided heart! I love this idea.
I've seen some people mix the sand with resin making a type of paste then putting it in the resin so the sand doesn't spread. Maybe that would work with what you are doing?
