Not just clipping makes a amp hot long extended use of an amp at high volume will make it hot its putting out a different kind of electric so its its gotta convert it and you make alot of heat doing that if its a car amp just grab a computer fan and hook it up too a switch and it willi never get hot again lol just dont push the amp to distorting

Just have the gain all the way down and you wont have any problems with clipping. Clipping will either put your amp in protect mode. Or kill your subs very easily
